I'll share N10m to every Nigerians for Agriculture if elected president- USA returnee


A presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Action Congress( AAC), Dr. Caro Nwosu, has said if elected president of Nigeria in 2023 she would share N10m to each Nigerian for Agriculture.

Nwosu, who served as commissioner for women's affairs in United States of America before venturing into Nigerian politics, stated this on Thursday while addressing the AAC delegates at her South-East campaign office in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

Stating that the money to fund such scheme was enough, Nwosu said the bane of Nigeria was endemic corruption where one single person would corner over N80bn for himself.

She vowed to tackle hunger head-on if elected , stating that as a mother she would ensure that no Nigerian went to bed on empty stomach.

She said her, "Hunger-Free" national programme would be sustained by a robust and youth-friendly agricultural scheme throughout the 774 local government areas of the country.

She said robust participation and reconciliation of Nigerians of all ethnic nationalities would bring about adequate security in the country which would ripple into abundant food production; reduce food prices and make them affordable for the poorest of the poor.

She noted that she would make agriculture so attractive to youths that it would become the most sought-after job.

“I will encourage youths with funds and ensure that all genuine farmers get quality inputs such as fertilisers, improved seedlings, herbicides, and agriculture extension services for free.

“My government will share about N10m each to every Nigerian, especially the youth and farmers to assist them in their communities for agriculture. I will make travelling outside Nigeria unattractive and ensure that nobody will molest any Nigerian who would want to travel outside the country in part of the world.


“We will have partnerships with major tractor-manufacturing companies to establish their plants in Nigeria and provide relatively cheap tractor hiring services for those that would want to be big-time farmers. I would reorient Nigerian youth to think and act like their Chinese counterparts where everyone is producers of good and services.


Adding, Nwosu who said she became an activist at age three said,“One of the effective ways of solving crime is to keep the active population, particularly the youths, highly engaged in what they believe will work for them.

“I sincerely believe that with effective youths engagement, the few remaining dissidents can be easily and effectively managed by security agencies.

“Cattle rustling, kidnapping, banditry, insurgency, internet scams, and youths restiveness will be a thing of the past in the country in my government.

She said her administration would also encourage science and innovation as well as people with special talents or the ability to invent and fabricate machines and software programmes that would aid societal growth.

“I will also encourage micro and small businesses to enable them to grow and become medium and big companies,’’ she stated.
