Ukraine is losing up to 100 soldiers every day as the country continues in its efforts to fight Russian forces, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.
In an interview with the American news channel Newsmax, the Ukrainian leader said the "most difficult" situation was in the east of the country, particularly in Severodonetsk and Lysychansk.

"The situation in the east is very difficult. We are losing 60 to 100 soldiers every day and there are around 500 wounded in action. So we are holding our defensive perimeters," he said.

Mr Zelenskyy went on to say rockets sent to Ukraine by the US would not be used on Russian soil.

He added: "I know some of the people in the United States are saying, or people in the White House are saying, we might be using them to attack Russia. Look, we're not planning to attack Russia. We're not interested in the Russian Federation. We're not fighting on their territory."
