Exactly my point. The govs hardly ask for advise or even take unsolicited advice when picking their successors. He asked them to reciprocate the freedom he gives them to choose their successors.
Those ones turned round and planted their interests in national interest. We know for a fact most northern govs are eyeing VP in prep for 2031.
This is an ambush. He didn't ask them to tell him where to choose from. He asked them to support him in choosing his successor.

No. Bubu can still have the final say. Anyone he chooses from the south, the northern govs will have no choice but to support. Something like horse-trading.
Muslim-Muslim ticket will always be difficult in this Nigeria. The era of 1993 is gone. Deborah was just killed last month. Christians so how Muslim politicians refrained from condemning that act. El-Rufai has a bigot's baggage which makes it worse
