Na the young guys wen go grow amongst this kind people when dem get old I dey pity pass. The kind bitterness and anger ehn! E get reason why I say many people get comfort zone… comfort zone na bad thing, e go even make you believe say you have done everything you can do.
E get one of my paddy wen carry him pale and him maale come Yankee. When the pops reach here, baba wen everybody dey respect for naija as elderly man no send anybody for here oh! Doc, you need to see baba in action.

Baba dey work like shege and after every 7-10 months, baba go carry all him small dollars wen him don work go naija go invest in different ventures like land, farming, him go donate some to the public primary school wen dey him community, give some to him age mates wen dey struggle or no get anybody wen dey help dem.

Baba go spend 2-3 months for Naija, come back Yankee come see him doctor for him routine medical checkup which is free under Medicaid and if him get serious sickness, Medicare go take care of am for free if he is hospitalized. He will repeat the cycle again and him no dey miss Christmas for Villa or any important occasion. Man is living his best life and never stops blessing his son for the decision to japa when the son did.

But pesin wen neva reach 45 sef go come online dey yarn say make people wen wan japa stay behind and help naija.. Who naija epp? Dis same naija wen politicians no dey use Naira bribe again.. na dollar dem dey use pay delegates now..

Oga stop twisting things. Nobody said to japa is not good, we are saying it's not the best solution to all our problems.
The people that died yesterday, did they not have relatives abroad? So you that have japa, if your parents or your childhood best friend was killed by thugs, how did your japa solve the insecurity problem?
You guys are just making noise with this japa talk, are you people proposing every African japa from their continent and go to the white man's land?

Me am not understanding this whole talk again. I have said this before, every country is blessed and cursed. I am a family man who is a civil servant, I am in the federal inspectorate, I go to work 3 times in a week unlike my younger days. None of my family members have ever been attacked or killed. I live well, I feed well and I train other people. Some weekends, I carry my children for outing and by God's grace. I am okay with life. There are soo many other Nigerians like me.
Nigeria has the best economy in Africa.

The same way we lament when we read bad news is exactly the same way americans lament everyday when they see how their own children are being slaughtered in schools because they think it's okay for everybody to own and carry machine guns.

Please stop this very foolish talk about japa, like it's a final solution.

Did all citizens of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia japa before they eventually got it right?
When china was extremely poor in the 70s, did all citizens of china japa before they became the richest.

Instead of you people to advocate for us to get our leadership right, you're encouraging more brain drain from the country. You guys should stop this foolish talk abeg.

cheesy cheesy very revealing, like oasis said, if you can build a good business with redundancies to protect it, Nigeria is a very good investment environment, you just have to be very street smart to navigate the huddles, there are 200m people, that’s a huge market, if your fundamentals are sound, you will be fine, all these stories of Ponzi scheme shows that the desire to invest is there

You don’t need to bribe anybody if you know what you are doing

As for going abroad cheesy

Depends on your level

What people call middle class in Nigeria is actually poor, so most families consider relocating their families as an accomplishment, and if those people are the middle class imagine the poor then now imagine the elite grin

Our friend said that rich people go for holidays in Nigeria but that’s not true, rich people in Nigeria go abroad for holidays, it’s the poor that usually consider it an accomplishment to travel because their families don’t have enough to afford living there at an elite level

Somebody recommended Ghana to people, do you read reports? Na wa i’m ashamed, very clueless statement

@Donjazet look at Havertz.10 opinion on japa.

Nigeria is Africa's richest country and biggest economy. If you think we have problems that are unsolvable, then what would you people now say about the poorer countries?

What about Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Zimbabwe, sudanese etc?
Are you people saying all the black men should leave their fatherland, the African continent and go to the white man's land where they will literally be second class citizens? So all Africans should desert Africa and go and serve the white man.

What kind of slavish mentality full here abeg? The ones they did our ancestors never do?
Just look at the people cheering the discussion.
You people that are shouting japa are heartless. So because the few of you successfully left Nigeria, you think you have made it in life? You think the rest of us see life as a hellish existence. Quite grandiose of you. One would think there are no deadly gangs in the UK or America.
One would think there are no security issues too in these countries.
Myself and my wife earn 200k combined every month, that's about 2 million+ annually. We thank God almighty for that.
There are millions of Nigerians who earn the same.
This is better than some outside who pay through their nose.

Stop making Nigeria seem like we have the worst problems in the world.

NIGERIA'S ONLY PROBLEM IS LEADERSHIP.
We get our leadership right and you watch how Africa's richest country becomes a first world country. Stop this nonsense japa talk, if your relative was a victim yesterday, you that japa, will you not be affected mentally? Abi you want to carry every single person wey you know japa?

Bro if you think 200k a month is a comfortable living for a family of 5, this japa message is not for you.

I don't want to talk too much because I think this is a delicate conversation, if there is one to be had at all, but i respect the fact that you're living comfortably within your means and even supporting others. That's actually very admirable.

But bro, japa message is not for you.

This whole abroad is utopia nonsense that these nigerians peddle is just a mirage. There are only 3 groups of nigerians enjoying abroad and anyone who does not fall within that group is suffering. thats just facts. and these 3 groups of people only constiture about 4 percent of the diaspora or even less than 4 percent meaning 96 percent are struggling. The 3 groups are

1- Nigerian children who live abroad and stay with their parents.

2-Medical doctors.

3-IT GURUS. and not just any run of the mill IT guy but i mean like an IT guy who can code in almost 10 languages both frontend and backend and can handle database administration etc

These are the only 3 groups of people enjoying the abroad . everybody else is struggling harder than the common man in Nigeria. The high cost of living there will kill you.

No 3, just confirmed your level of ignorance.

Very correct my friend, my wife and I own a poultry.
We have 130 chickens with 2 people that feed and clean them. And collect their eggs. This has been our side income for almost 4 years now.
I supply almost 10 crates weekly to shops around us here in asaba.
It's all about financial prudence. Living within means. If you can't live within means, you would struggle wherever you are in the world.

Nigeria is not the worst country to live in. With God's grace and your hard work, you will live well.

People making it look like, abandoning your entire family, loosing all connections with everyone you have in life and going to a brand new society totally unrecognized from the one you know just for a higher currency is the ultimate achievement.
Both my parents are still alive. They enjoy seeing their grandchildren. They enjoy seeing their son building his family. My parents would curse me if I said I wanted to leave Nigeria. For what? My father was a civil servant too under the military regional government. The government then gave my father a house and government car. This was a teacher oo in the 80s. He lived in staff quarters with each house having a boys quarter. He trained my uncle's and sponsored them in university.

I just can't understand people who think nigeria is the worst of the worst. That is simply not true.

I have a friend I left in Ogun state surviving on 90k combined family income. I was surprised the day he told me he's building already.

I know a lot of people with income of over 500k here in portharcourt without a single land to call their own and it is not because they live a lavish lifestyle.

I also have to add that comfort is relative.

To you, having 24 hour power supply with ocassional trips with the family to Dubai is comfort. To another person comfort is their ability to eat three square meals, have a roof over their head and pay their children's schools fees.

Buhari is allegedly british. Saraki is definitely british. Even the agitators Kanu and Ekpa are British and Finnish.

You're absolutely right and that's why I respect his position.

But he's also not in a position to dispute Japa message.

Japa message js for people who are tired. Japa message is for people who are angry at thr status quo. Mad even. Japa message is for someone who earns 200k as a single guy maybe in Lagos and after rent and basic expenses has nothing in savings. Japa message js for someone who recognises there is more to this life and he deserves better.

The guy who js receptive to japa message has something to offer the world in exchange for a good life, be it skill, talent, or just sheer hard work.

That kind of person cannot understand thr view of the civil servant raising a family of 5 on 200k, just tnr same way same civil servant cannot understand the view of a nigga that feels he can't take of himself alone on such funds.

You have been shouting, JAPA JAPA!!!!

If it was easy, why haven't you done it??
It's easy for a drunkard like you to just lay on your bed shouting JAPA JAPA when you don't even have the means to do it.

Do you know what it takes to establish a comfortable life abroad?? I know it's not easy, I have been working towards it and failing for 2 years now.
You need at least 20 million naira to live comfortably abroad due of our very weak currency and low purchasing power.

20 million naira is just 40,000 pounds. That's nothing in UK, that won't last you 1 complete year. Simple things like football jersey is 200 pounds. They can afford these things easily. You that is converting from your local currency will shed tears.

Let's talk the huge cultural shift, we've seen how extremely homophobic you are here.

Are you ready to work under a transgender boss like Ibime said he once did?? Would you be comfortable walking on the road and seeing 2 men kiss everywhere you went??

I don't mind personally, but for someone as foolish and hateful as yourself, these are small examples of the cultural shift which can be disconcerting.

Talking about PVC. Boy, do you actually think things thoroughly?? Both of us know that a street urchin like you has no future abroad, you, personally will be here in the next 4 years and you would still be complaining foolishly about the terrible leaders of Nigeria, instead of you to join hands with your fellow citizens and vote in the right people, you would rather keep shouting ABROAD ABROAD! When they can't accept a foolish person like you.
Boy is a nuisance, so much of a bad bitter soul sounds more like a child from a broken home kiss

I also don't go to work everyday. The same thing with many of my colleagues. We have a system that covers for each other. I go to work only 3 times in a week.
You can't have such laxity abroad. You will work through your nose.

Lastly let me tell you the icing on the cake, I haven't paid nepa bill in 3 years. Around us we have people that rig the meter, so it doesn't read. When the nepa people come much later, we settle the staff and he goes. This cannot happen in abroad.
It’s icing on the cake not to pay Nepa bills that should help in paying some people their salaries? cheesy

You rig meter and call it ice on the cake huh?

You bribe nepa officials and call it ice on the cake right?

All of a sudden, bribery and corruption don become ice on the cake because you’re benefiting? cheesy

When i said an average Nigerian is corrupt and a criminal, it looked like I was being extreme.

donstan18:

An average Nigerian is corrupt and a criminal.

People must learn to accept this truth.

donstan18:

Now someone reasonable is getting my point.

Lol, an average Nigerian is a criminal and will gladly accept to be a hypocrite offline so long as he/she is gaining.

cheesy cheesy cheesy

You've been talking about needing better leadership, but you're delighted in the fact that you and your wife don't pay tax, despite...being a Federal Civil servant.

In other words. You don't actually contribute to the funds that are used to pay your damn salary, and you're happy about it.

Bro have you ever stopped to consider what would happen if more people did what you did? grin

The second part again, is that you're happy to steal electricity.

So your comfortable life is based on tax avoidance and energy theft. No wonder your 200k goes far.

The day somebody clamps down on this loopholes, and you actually have to spend on what you use, nobody go tell you say 200k is not enough.

I don't blame you for doing what you're doing though, cos there is no sin in a lawless place. Just don't think it's the norm

Lol, no wonder you are against japa-ing.

You are even part of the problem, full salary despite working 3 days per week and by-passing light meter.
