They should use the subsidy they removed to ameliorate the life of Nigerians!
How have they done that huh
Instead of investing in power or education, they will tell us they used it in SCAM school feeding programme!
Jokers!!
There has never been a complete subsidy removal.

What government does and has been doing for over 4 decades is reducing the amount spent on subsidy which manifests as a rise in the pump price.

So long as government is setting the price, there is a subsidy.

Buhari is a bad leader, but

1.Prices of gas and diesel are going up because the cost of the raw material...crude oil, is at an all time high, plus government stopped subsidising them a long time ago.

2.Power is bad because Nigeria underpays the sector badly. Right now, power companies have their tarrifs set by government, at a price that in essence ensures they lose money, and have to be propped up by government funds, which aren't enough (subsidies).

3.Naira has always been weak because we aren't an exporter of goods whose prices we can set. We export raw materiel...whose prices are set by the West, and which never are at prices that can sustain us. Then we spend lots of forex 1) paying for loans taken to keep our heads above water when oil prices were low 2) paying to subsidise fuel which should be costing N400 per liter but costs N165....the subsidy goes to cover the resulting loss.

4.I agree about the security.

This is not a defence of Buhari. There are solutions he could have used...like removing subsides, rasing tax revenues, and even reforming the security sector . Governors too have been bad. But the problems we have are also a result of other factors.
The buck stops at his table of the President. We should not make excuses for them, they were elected to fix the issues and not point them out.

the same government that told us that there is nothing like subsidy is the same one still paying the so called subsidy.

We need to sit down and do a proper analysis of what we are subsidizing and you'd find out that we are actually paying to enrich all these fuel importers.

How much exactly is the subsidy? we have been paying this same subsidy from the days of IBB yet we never still get sense.

There is a rot in the system that's empowering this so called subsidy payment
That's why it should go. It is full of corruption and inefficency.

But the poor want low prices, and are willing to tolerate the subsidy corruption in return for that.

Please don't compare a renowned Economists with a renowned cattle rearer, Even me as an Economic analyst, I know how to solve some of the current issues lingering the society, but Buhari is a man who doesn't care and will bolding remind you that "Even if dollars gets to 1500/$, you don't spend in dollars, these were his words....what a leader we have!!
That still does not asnwer the question as to how Obi would handle the matter (and yes, Buhari has clearly and totally failed in his handling of the matter, that is clear).

And how would Peter Obi change things?

Diesel prices are high because of high crude oil prices. Unless Obi wants to pay a subsidy on diesel...which means we lose more money that could have been used for other things...on subsidising diesel.
Making excuses for your enslavers. He will change things by fixing this seemingly unsolvable power problem! At least that’s the hope.

School children feeding is a big SCAM bro!
And it's not evenly distributed. In fact it is not sustainable. Build better classrooms for them and give them good teachers. Majority of them feed at home biko!!

As for ASUU, the whole money they need is not at once, create a yearly budgeted sustainable payment plan and that will be taken care of.
See the 2009 agreement, which prescribed 1.5 trillion in extra funding per annum for 2 years, and the 2013 modificaiton which reduced it to one trillion over 5 years, at 200 billion per annum...only one tranche of which has been paid.

Universites need money. And the elephant in the room is that if ASUU is not successful....fees have to go up. Neither ASUU or government wants that. (which is not being realistic, in my opinion).

Support dangote to complete his refinery half of the problem solved and encourage them to subsidize the price for Nigerians
1.Dangote is almost there.

2.Subsidisng Dangote fuel is a nice way of wrecking his refinery. If we do that, he won't make a profit, and he won't be able to fix the refinery and maintain it because he cannot afford the cost.

Here is how subsidy works. Assuming Dangote refines petrol at 500 naira per liter, and sells it at N650 per liter to make a profit of N150 per liter...and government comes in and tells him to sell to markteters at N170 per liter, so that they can sellit at N180 per liter...where is the profit dangote is going to make? Plus they pay him a subsidy of N200 per liter sold....

And what happens if the price of crude keeps rising? Where would dangote get money to pay his suppliers of crude? And that affects revenue for Niger delta states and LG...and workers...because if Dangote cannot pay for the crude, or pays for it at a loss, they lose out on revenue...and that includes the FG....which can affect things like your salary and so forth.

Businessmen have to make profit so that they can pay lots of people. Not to keep in a hole in the gorund.

So he should then subsidse diesel...and push our budget into more deficit and loss...

Maybe he should take money from your salary and pension to pay for subsidisng diesel to N100 per liter.

GEJ is not my fave president, but he removed diesel subsides for a darn good reason in 2013.

The cost of goods and services is about to hit the roof. Industries relying on diesel will jack up prices and landlords who shop at high prices will increase rent as well. What exactly is the function of Government.

This is a government that was campaigned for and sold to Nigerians by BOLA AHMED TINUBU. Tinubu has never apologized to Nigerians for unleashing this evil government on us.

How can we ever trust anything Tinubu says again. The last time we trusted him, he gave us Buhari. He told us that Buhari was the best for Nigerans. Tinubu has never spoken up against the evils and mismanagements of this evil government he brought on Nigerians.

Fellow Nigerians, when you go to the gas station to buy diesel at an inflated price, remember TINUBU gave us this government for his selfish reasons.

At this point, it is safe to conclude that, Nigeria under Buhari and APC is HELL on EARTH!!

Okay, but that means our tax to gdp ratio has to go up, and the 70% who don't pay taxes have to start paying.

It depends on what you are doing...Most petrol Gen are small power units...not used in big biz

Banks etc use about 10-15KVA Diesel gens and they are complaining...

Imagine me now using 45kva and see how much diesel I burn to work...No petrol gen can power my units
