Even in USA and UK, they allow them to wear it.

I thought we all agreed those are sane countries that Nigeria should emulate?

Then we should also accept people wearing native doctors attires. Sane thing is that everybody should dress according to his or her organisation dress code. If your school accept hijab so be it.

Supreme Court committed a grave error in their judgment. They should have said everyone should follow dressing code of his/her organisation simple. If your school allows it, so be it.
Exactly what I think they should ruled. Those men are somehow old n doesn't know d consequences of their judgements. What of the schools that prevents some female students from wear sleeveless or some dresses they term immoral? or some that prevents male students from entering classes in shorts? Should these students take d school management to court, I hope they'll get favourable judgement. This also means that even Bobriskky can also dress d way he likes to every institution of his choice.

There is difference between hijab and niqab.

--Hijab covers chest and head.

--Niqab covers the entire face and usually big.

I will NEVER support anyone wearing Niqab either in school or at home, I see anyone doing that like a masquerade.

Like you rightly said, Niqab will be a security threat coz you won't see the face of the person wearing it and criminals/terrorists might take advantage of it.

But Hijab shows the face of the person, it shows the school uniform, so why are people jittery about it?
don't u think that with this judgement, they've legalised everything even d nigab

The supreme court got this one wrong..
They don't want chaos in Nigeria right?.. imagine Celestial church members or cherubim members going to school with their uniforms.. or going barefoot to school.. afterall, that's their religion/ denomination identify...
There's a reason why certain things were called uniform..

Nice one. He should just keep up with the traditional vest everyday on the street/house/office/church/shrine too like the Muslim girl child do with her hijab.

I’ll be counting on him and checking his progress.

Anytime I see any Christian opposing student wearing hijab in school, I see religious bigotry of the highest order.

Coz if you ask yourself, what harm does a girl on hijab do to you? Is it a threat to your life, threat to your living, or threat to your humanity?
You are missing the point. The lawyer is teasing the court.

Christian schools are for Christian, the moment you enrol in a school you have determined you would abide by the school’s statutes, so why do you want to wear hijab in a Christian school. No be wahala you dey fin so? undecided

Just imagine a student attending an islamic school with bible in hand and a bit cross with Lord Jesus on it around his neck, what do you think would happen?

Today at the Supreme Court, there was quiet pandemonium and shock as Chief Michael Omirhobo, a Lawyer, walked into the Supreme Court chambers dressed in traditionalist attire with his lawyer's wig and robe as accessories!
According to reports, when the Learned Lawyer walked into the Supreme Court, the Justices on the bench looked up in shock, looked at themselves, and went on recess without saying anything.
Chief Omirhobo stated in an interview he granted a few minutes later that since the Supreme Court ruled last week that students could wear Hijab to schools in Lagos, that means the Court has given every religion a right to dress the way the believers wish to dress, and that he has decided to dress like a traditionalist/native doctor from now on to court because the Supreme Court has given religious freedom to all religions!
According to the lawyers spoken to about this, there is nothing anyone can do to him based on the Supreme Court's ruling because the SC cannot reverse itself on this without setting a firestorm precedent.
This are the kind or lawyers we need in this country

The Lagos State government had no reason to prevent hijab in government schools.
It was a needless controversy.
Public schools are for everyone.
There should not be discrimination against female Muslims wearing the hijab in public schools especially if they have been wearing it before.
Lagos State Government was wrong.

Or they deliberately stirred up the hornet nest just to make a legal case for their other wannabe governments in the southwest and Kwara who are trying to IMPOSE hijab wearing in Christian legacy schools.

The two situations are different and not the same.

I have never seen where a supreme Court is setting bad legal precedence in the whole wild world.

Then why the brouhaha since the niqab is not the one in question? Those that want the covering can have their hijab. But if a private school, I believe they have the right to uniformity in appearance and should not be prosecuted for that except the ruling is binding on them which won't be fair to them.

Muric often complain how Muslim women were humiliated in passport offices, how can you capture the picture of someone covered from head to toe. A quarell will ensue if you asked they take off their veils.

Thank you. We need sensible fellows like you, not people beclouded by religious sentiments.
Imagine the child of a babalawo being dressed in traditional religious attires to school, with the bangles on the ankles, making noise at every step.

Well I agree with you that muslims should not use hijab in christian schools provided that school is still being operated by the missions and not public funded in its entirety. Muslims should respect that and not tresspass.

But in other public schools like the ruling of the supreme court about the Lagos issue, the state government have no right to enforce a hijab ban on public schools.

Let me ask you a question.

If a student wear hijab in secondary school, as a Christian, can you mention one way that affects you negatively or threathen your existence?

Please answer the question in good faith.

Baba discrimination go dey... I am a Muslim... I think about the future... We should not think about what suit us alone.... Compulsory of hijab in public institutions in Western Nigeria will only bring negative results... Discrimination go dey....

Make the discrimination dey if e wan dey.

I don’t see anything wrong in children and teenagers wearing hijab to school. No matter what anyone says, I still don’t see anything wrong with it.

Na Ibadan Grammar school I go, that school be Anglican school before the government took over patapata. I still remember back then say some of my classmates dey rock Hijab wella without anyone blinking an eye.

So if they can allow it back then, why people get problem with am this time around?

Try to understand our point. Wearing hijab is not a bad thing if the school permits it but order school to compulsorily accept it through law is an imposition of Islamic culture on the school, so other religion as well can dress in line with their religion culture. I don't hate Islam.

You hide bombs in your hijabs and burkhas to blow up churches, markets and schools.
Why would anyone tolerate your rubbish?
