Not just that. He knows that when winter comes, the EU would crawl to the Kremlin on their knees begging for oil and gas deals since by then russia would've cut off all gas and oil supplies make them freeze.
Putin has already reduced gas supply to Germany by 60% and winter never even reach
Germany has declared 3 state of emergencies in response. Winter is coming

Winter meaning Russia can cut off gas supplies to EU and that will be the end of EU support to Ukraine as EU citizens will protect on the street as things will be too expensive.
Ukraine want EU to stop Russia gas and oil yet same Ukraine told Russia to pump more gas through Ukraine territory after Russia announced cut in supply through NS because of Siemen delays.
Ukraine still collecting billions of dollars from Russia till now, if Ukraine is serious about the war, why don’t they cut of the gas supply.
