I recently noticed my car engine oil gauge is short on the dip stick.i usually use Mobil 1 synthetic (0w-20) to service my car.I have gone round town and can't find the 1 litre can to do a top up.

What is available in the market is hardex synthetic 1 litre can of same viscosity.

Can I mix both brand without any adverse effect on the vehicle?

This is the problem with premium oil. If you can't find 1 litre, buy 4 litre and keep the rest. Do not mix

Painful truth.

When I was switching oil brands, same viscosity, I had a little over 3L of the oil I used for my last change, it was tempting to just mix it but it’s not appropriate.

OP like he stated, you just have to get the excess or worse case you do a complete oil change and that’ll cost you more.

It will not grenade your engine.
Mix. As long as it's the same viscosity and API grade.

I did mix the 2 oils with different brand but same viscosity.I drove the car for more than a month until the next service date was due.

There was no noticeable adverse effect.Car engine still ran smooth.
