Assad can do that because he runs an autocracy.

If Buhari ran Nigeria like Assad ran Syria...you and i and everyone else would really cry well well. Security would be so tight, and every opponent would either be in jail or exile. And sites like this would be based abroad, or closed.

Autocrats run their secret police with the aim of preventing attacks before they happen. If you so much as think you want to off an autocrat...the boys will be at your door in minutes.
