We had a chance to establish Ake in 2018, we quickly accepted £20m.

Today we have Levi Colwill who is a better CB than Ake was at his age, and we want to block his path with Ake instead of buying a cheap but solid journeyman that can pick up the slack if Colwill doesn't perform. Likes of Saiss for example.

Ake and Colwill really both play the LCB position, it's not like you can play Ake RCB

Same way we would have sold James just for hakimi and James will start balling for another team

In any case how is Guehi better than Ake or Koulibaly? Apart from playing time and age.

Hopefully Colwill impresses in preseason like Chalobah does and the way the Kounde deal was dropped may occur for Ake and we get only Koulibaly

All this team needs is just one experienced addition at the back & koulibaly comes in with a cheap alternative like Joakim Mæhle( incase we want james to play rcb) who can play rwb/lwb , Then an addition in the middle. I think gilmour should stay , A CM/CAM then an attacker while replacing ziyech ..I'd be suprised if sterling hit 15goals in Pl under this our tactic1s...

Do you think Ake is coming back with point to prove, already a multi millionaire with titles to his name. In his mind, he will be thinking, I will make these fools pay good money for rejecting me back then. See Pogba and Lukaku as example
