Even if they know how to swim, they can't swim and stay alive in this kind of water

I know this route and I usually commute to Ibeshe beach for some fun. The ride can be very scary sometimes even for good swimmers. Omo I nearly went there last friday the same day this incident happened
It's not part of the ocean, just a fresh waterway and they usually give out life jacket before you board the boat. RIP to the dead.

The day entered boat from ikorodu to lekki...I swore never to try it again as the stop suddenly stop twice on the way ...the life jacket was nothing but trash...the fear on everyone could be papable

The issue here is poor waterway monitoring and regulation. The boat operated at an illegal time. The passengers did not use life jackets.

We should do the right thing even as passengers and force operators to compliance.
