Not exactly. The touch pad works all the time. At times, it may start pressing by itself for a few seconds and then stop (or you could stop it by locking and unlocking the phone). Most Redmi note 9 series users witness this when they use screen guard

The phone isn't faulty. If you bought the same phone for 90k, chances are you'll have the same ghost touch experience. Almost every Redmi user can relate with it. I mentioned the ghost touch thingy to prepare a first-time Redmi user.
