Between Gumi And BBC, Who Is Guilty? FG Decides by Ikechukwu183(op):
It is no longer news that Sheikh Gumi had in the past negotiated and discussed with bandits on several occasions without any government authorization and was never for once cautioned nor punished by the Federal government. However, in a twist of events, the same government is about to punish BBC and Trust TV for having an undercover interview with bandits and airing same.

It begs for answers as to how different sets of people receive opposite treatments for the same 'crime'. Sheikh Gumi had in recent past had back and forth interaction with the bandits terrorizing the North, which was heavily published in newspapers and yet it was seen as normal. BBC and Trust TV are on the line to be punished for 'promoting acts of terrorism' by publishing the documentary on bandits' activities.

The questions remain, was BBC promoting terrorism by that documentary? If yes, did Gumi err by similar activities?

BBC was educating everybody Nigerians included about what was going on and why it had taken the FG so long to end the Problem

The Bandit Leader himself confessed that Banditry had become a very Lucrative business

Many Nigerians didn’t know that the Hausas were badly affected by the Bandits attacks until that Documentary

The documentary was an exposé on things we knew not. Perhaps, that was what infuriated the FG as the documentary showed that all is not well and rosy up North.
