Apparently still angered by the lack of meaningful initiative at reconciliation from the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, the governor of Rivers State on Sunday, met with governors backing him to consider the way forward as the 2023 presidential elections inch closer.

The closed-door meeting, which was held in Rivers State Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, was attended by state governors known to be his major backers including Sam Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).

Also in the meeting were former state governors including Donald Duke (Cross River), Gabriel Suswam (Benue), Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo), Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Ibrahim Idris (Kogi) and Jonah Jang (Plateau).

Others include former PDP Deputy National Vice Chairman North, Senator Suleiman Nazif; former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Adoke; member of the House of Representatives from Kogi State, Tijjani Yusuf, among others.

There were also various coordinators of his presidential campaign led by former Information minister Jerry Gana.

Even though the agenda of the meeting was not publicly revealed, the Nigerian Tribune gathered that it was a fallout of the vice-presidential selection process in which Atiku snubbed Wike despite being recommended by the committee set up for the purpose.

The group is miffed that despite humiliating the Rivers governor, the PDP presidential candidate had yet to reach out to him to placate him as being pushed by Governor Ortom.

Gana, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees and North Central Coordinator of the Wike Presidential campaign, spoke briefly to reporters after the meeting saying: “This is the first meeting we are holding with all our candidates in the states after the primaries. We are united and are one.

“We know that developments will unfold and when they do, we shall brief Nigerians.”

PDP should try and settle the disgruntled and jaundiced members before it's too late.

Meanwhile Peter Obi is a goal

Young people will decide the outcome of the next year's presidential election, Mr Obi is lucky to have the preponderance of them.

Na wow na person wey lose de strategize pass person wey win so.

Some people no just fit accept defeat at all.

Aside that I think there is the fear of Atiku not winning the election that's still stalling them if not, they would have brokered for juicy positions to appease them.
prizeless:
Seems you don't understand that Woke is a power block. Do you see his pull. Atiku is the biggest loser here
A pull that couldn't get him the presidential flagbearer should be pulled down and raise another because the current pull will not give him the presidency even if he decamps so there's no need feeling more than he is.

If he thinks he can win, he should have gone to a smaller party that has no intention of fielding a candidate and run on their platform so he can try his might.

These guys should just team up behind Obi so we can have a very tight and interesting race in 2023.

shocked

Atiku didn't know what is about to happen to him.
He think that PDP of today is still PDP of 1999 down to 2011 where they were wining all federal election. PDP that was buried in 2015

Wike passionately hate Atiku and anything that has to do with him infact nothing will make him change his mind, Atiku on his side don't send Wike.

Atiku that coudn't win his polling unit in 2019 think he will win 2023 general election when his support base which south south and South East has gone to Labour Party. Even his north east has been taking away from him cos of Shettima VP candidacy.

Anyway, all I know is that this election is between PO nd BAT.

labour party won't churn out 3million votes in the coming election. LP won't smell third position in the election

Who was Wike, and what was he doing between 1999 and 2007 when Atiku was already an accomplished man, financially and politically?

Wike is a cult-minded, narrow-thinking, self-centered buffoon.

Atiku should ignore him and install a workaround to isolate and pen Wike into his local constituent. Wile insists Atiku must come to Rivers and beg him before he will reconcile. What a freak idiota he is. Atiku does not need Wike at all.

Atiku is dealing with party barrier This is test to see how politically sagacious Atiku is when faced with a political barrier.

Wr know what Tinubu would do if in same situation, but what would Atiku do? Let's wait and see.

The earlier Wike aligns with APC, the better for him!

Atiku and PDP is gone! The usual South East votes is gone and no way Atiku would even be a force

He should just join the winning team and get a soft landing.

And if the devil in him is really anxious to fvck him up, he could as well join Labour party. But Wike can never be that foolish! His political game seems okay.

The fact that Atiku took ages to reach out to Wike even after proper counsel, shows how unserious and rather nonchalant he is towards this upcoming election.
Every vote, supporter and “political force” is important, disOBIDIENCE, pride and ego should be set aside..
Anyhow sha, it’s a very YUSFUL development to the benefit/advantage of …..you know who wink grin
