The Lagos Police command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, says an officer who was caught on camera demanding a Nigerian man to open his phone for a search has been invited for questioning.

The Video showed the officer in a confrontation with a Nigerian man who refused to open his phone for the officer. The Nigerian man insisted that the Inspector General of Police has said that no officer has a right to search phones. The officer felt slighted by the Nigerian man's refusal and an argument ensued between them.

A Twitter User who Shared The Video Wrote:

''Is there anything new under the sun? My friend was harassed by the police today while he was on his way for a photo shoot.''

Reacting To The Video, Hundeyin Wrote;

'' These ‘isolenu’ officer, serving in Dolphin Division, has been identified (excuse my code-mixing). He is reporting at the Headquarters tomorrow. I’ll provide updates.''

They have stated again o even here in Uyo, 2 weeks ago i was harrased by the disguised SARS cos i was going through Facebook while they were harassing young men along Ikpa road by Uniuyo. When they checked my phone and saw absolutely nothing they returned my device but they arrested a lot of boys that were just passing by.


Something need to be done please, just this Sunday i saw another batch chasing some young men along Oron road and threatening to fire them when those boys started running. This country is getting tiring

The man could only claim right because the officer was on uniform. Most of them are now wiser, they do this rubbish on mufty.

I was on my way back from Ojo one day and about 8 of these criminals stopped me in broad day light, probably around 11am, they were all holding guns, some were smoking and looking like criminals. They stop any young man they see that is well dressed. I had no choice than to cooperate with them. They directed me close to one of their vehicles, a korope bus, when I went there, I saw a number of young guys inside the bus, they asked me what I do for a living, etc, I told them, they asked me to give them my phone and go in too, but I refused, they insisted and I insisted too, cos I don't know what I will do inside, they sha collected my phone, asked me to unlock it, I had no choice than to do so. One of the men collected it and wanted to go into the car and operate it but I insisted that he should stay close to me cos I want to be seeing what he is doing with my phone. The man asked me to open my whatsapp and I did, he started searching the words 'crypto, client' cc, aza' etc, but the only places he saw those words were on a Chelsea group i was part of. That was when he started asking me who 'Blue Blood' was, so I said it is clearly a football group, and he asked if i was a Chelsea fan, I said yes, that was when he started saying they (Man U) are better than us and they will beat us, etc, we started joking and he gave me back my phone and asked me to go, na so I use escape o.

I found out the guys inside the car were the ones seen with these words on their phone, one was trying to explain that he was a crypto trader but officer no gree hear o. I sha left thanking God.

If I try to claim right there and anything happens, there will be no way to trace those rogues, they were more criminal looking than I was.
