He was ready to keep the promise in spite of the last minute treachery of Tambuwal who he had stood by over the years but well... Atiku commited the own goal of disregarding the unanimous opinion of the committee HE constitued to pick a running mate for him. Atiku chose to ignore the strongest option available to help PDP secure the presidential ticket due to his selfishness.

2. Wike lacks honour. It's only someone who lacks honour that breaks a promise
Is it Atiku that has honour? A professional party jumper? At least Wike is still in the PDP despite all the betrayal. What did Atiku do when he lost to Jonathan? Jump to APC! What did he then do when he lost to Bihari jump back to PDP!!

3. No where in the world is the candidate of a party compelled to pick a candidate he defeated as running mate. Wike did not contest to Vice President, he contested for president and was defeated.
How can you set up a committee to get you the best running mate that gives you the strongest chance of beating APC and they overwhelmingly recommend Mr A but instead you ignore their advice and choose Mr B? No be JuJu be dat?

4. By fraternizing with APC, Wike is now wilfully constituting himself into a distraction and nuisance to the PDP.
Freedom of association Sir. Wike is not just a member of PDP, he is also a member of the NGF, a detribalised Nigerian abs and an astute politician.

Neither Wike nor anyone has compelled anybody to pick him as a candidate......

The PDP set up an advisory Council on the Presidential election to recommend and give guidelines to the party leadership on what to do to achieve success in the forth coming 2022/23 primaries and elections.

The first recommendation of that council, after due consultation within the party and beyond was that the Presidential ticket be zoned to the South with special preference to the South East and the party leadership agreed; only for the PDP Chairman through the office of the secretary to start selling Presidential primary forms to Saraki, atiku, and others from the North....

For the avoidance of doubt, in 1999 the PDP zoned the Presidential ticket to the South, with special preference to the South-west. This was done to compensate the south west for losing both MKO Abiola and the presidency, nobody was allowed to buy Presidential primaries form except they hailed from the South.......


So why will the chairman of PDP sell forms to people like Atiku and the likes, against the recommendation of an advisory Council setup by his own office?


It was after seeing this grave aberration that Peter Obi walked away from the PDP to join the Labour Party, a big blow to the PDP's efforts at a powerful synergy to take Abuja from the APC......


What was the PDP chairman's response to protests within the party? We will sort it out and reiterate the council recommendations to the delegates at the primaries.....

This same Wike was initially accused by haters, gossips, back-biters and back-bitees for not raising alarm over the actions of the chairman of PDP because he was raising support for Atiku because he was promised to be made a running mate by Atiku......



The only thing that silenced them all was when he declared and campaigned to run for the PDP Presidential ticket himself......and even at that, until the very day of the primaries he was accused of playing a gimmick to distract from the truth.....


He contested, lost and alleged that he was betrayed by certain people he had aligned with in his campaign, with special emphasis on tambuwal.....nevertheless he shook hands congratulated atiku publicly and went his way.


The same PDP stated that it was hunting for a befitting running mate for Atiku and the same Presidential Advisory Council was sought for recommendations; it was the council that picked Wike and neither did the PDP Chairman nor Atiku object to this recommendation.


It was the Northern caucus of the PDP and some excos of the PDP that rejected it on the ground that Wike was not Presidential material and that there is no member of the PDP excos that he has not insulted, with some throwing verbal attacks on wike......the northern caucus threatened to withdraw their support from Atiku and as such, Atiku back-tracked and picked Okowa......


This infuriated not just members of the party but even members of the Presidential advisory Council to the extent that a member of that Council, Kasim Afegbua, resigned immediately from the PDP as he was fully convinced that the Chairman of the party was sabotaging his own party's effort to win the election!!!


Else why setup a council to consult and advise you, without sentiments or bias on how best to achieve success in the forth coming elections when you have no intention of following their recommendations?


Already people like you and atiku within the PDP are already blaming Wike of sabotage in advance, in the event that they loose the election.


If the PDP looses the election, they should look to the Northern Caucus of the PDP and the excos that advised Atiku, both of whom will not do any field work on the day of elections.......and not Wike!

If they don't need him to win an election then they should not dignify his name with a mention except..................they know they need him to win the election because Rivers State is the only state in the South that gives PDP nothing less than a million votes in the Presidential elections...........and Wike has a strong synergy with grassroot!


Wike isn't a man that is a stranger to turbulent waters, as a local government chairman and leader of all the local government chairmen in Rivers state, his ability to mobilise was so enticing that Amaechi made him his Chief of Staff and used him to keep the grassroot movement under check.


The problem was that Wike was so good at it that he was eventually accused of trying to take Amaechi's seat from him. At a time when he wanted to run for senate, rumour filtered that he wanted to challenge Amaechi in the next gubernatorial elections and the only was he could prove that he was loyal to Amaechi was to accepted a Nomination to be a minister of state for education in Abuja.


But after Wike left, Amaechi couldn't get a suitable replacement for Wike and Amaechi has a more bossy dictatorial approach compared to wike who knows how to bring variety of interests together.......a very valuable skill we see him utilise when he was able to bring warring factions in Edo PDP to not only accept Obaseki but to eventually win the gubernatorial elections in Edo state........


For me, not accepting him as a running mate is not the issue but using your personal grievances as a basis for rejecting his recommendation? That is what will make them loose the elections and not wike.......


A man with political Sagacity is what is needed to face a man like Tinubu, as frail as he is in health, he still managed to win the coveted prize of APC Presidential ticket, Why?

Because at a time when Atiku was busy making money with Intels and Mikano, and Peter Obi was busy wearing one watch for 16years, Tinubu was busy making politicians and using them to Co-found a Mega party like the APC.

If your house is not in order when you face them, you will definitely loose. APC knows this, Labour Party knows this and jubilates and even the PDP members know this and that is why the chairman of PDP is likely to loose his seat for allowing the Northern Caucus of the PDP to turn him into a puppet

What value did Atiku bring to PDP in recent times

Anyway PDP will be finally buried after 2023 election. If Tinubu no win, Peter Obi will win, but PDP will finally be buried because they have done very wickedly against even the heavens.

He left the PDP because he lost to Jonathan. Instead of supporting Jonathan who won a free and fair primary election, he port to the APC and worked for Buhari.

In fact, he swore never to return to the PDP.

I hope you lot won’t change the music when you realize that delivering for Tinubu’s all-Muslim ticket in Rivers State is a virtually-impossible prospect. Even Wike with all his tenacity and ruggedness does not have the political wherewithal to achieve such a feat.
He knows that political obscurity beckons if he dares attempt that. He will go the way of Amaechi and Akpabio.

Baba is simply playing you guys, while waiting for the PDP/Atiku to table what’s in the offing for him should they win next year.
The worst he could do in the event of a deadlock with Atiku would be to covertly work for Peter Obi. He dares not swim against the tide. That’ll be political suicide.

I wholeheartedly agree with op. Wike should leave pdp and join apc and not to stay in pdp constituting nuisance. He should leave just like u said Atiku left during Jonathan time. Atiku didn't stay in pdp to cause commotion. Wike should jejely leave the party.
