The Blame Game became a popular concept through President Muhammadu Buhari when he blamed the defeated People's Democratic Party (PDP) for virtually everything. The President lamented the root in the system and damages done to the country that he forgot he was elected to right the wrongs in the system he inherited. He got himself and Nigeria held down by failure of the past as a result of playing the blame game instead of forging ahead. Jokingly, the delay in appointing cabinet minister of the president, according to some quarters, has PDP incursion. Oftentimes, I hear and read people blame the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the weaknesses of the current administration. Never for once have I seen anyone talk about the successes of PMB let alone of attributing such to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Is it that PMB's seven (7) years so far has been a journey of failure or we just loath him so much that they see no good in his administration? (I guess right! But you're wrong. I'm not a Buharist. I voted against him in 2019). Also, recently, particularly since the conclusion of political parties Presidential primaries and since the beginning of media campaign by supporters of the various presidential candidates that emerged, baiter and banters has become an order of the day by supporters of these candidates. In Lagos State, candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his supporters has been going around the length, breath, nooks and crannies of Nigeria boastfully with bravado, claiming to be the father of Lagos state development and also promising to make Nigeria like Lagos. Other supporters, particularly the OBIdients Citizens and the ATIKUlates has continually detested the claims of making Lagos what it is today by the BATified BATists by saying Lagos became what it is because for decades, it was the seat of both the colonial, Federal Military and Civilians governments respectively. But then, they are quick to call out Tinubu and his supporters whenever things go wrong in Lagos. Recently was during the flood in Lagos that resulted in destruction of properties. Tinubu is to blame for the woes of Lagos despite leaving government some fifteen (15) years ago. Across the Niger, Southeastern region in Anambra state, Peter Obi is the architect of the states development forgetting and despising the fact that the state been a flourishing one even before independence. Candidate of the PDP seem not to he much involved in this blame game and bantering of words as much is not know about him administratively except being head of the privatization committee of the Olusegun Obasanjo tenure where he was Vice President. This is possible because he's has never held or occupied a position where he calls the shot or make the last shot(I do not mean to unleash vawulence, instead I'm just being factual), according to Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN. EMPLOYING THE DEDUCTION THEOREM IN THE BLAME GAME. The deduction theorem reveals the relationship between logical entailment and material implication: it allows to one to "pack" or "record" an inference into a tautology, and conversely, to "unpack" or "play back" a tautology as an inference process. (The English Dictionary). The statements below can be considered to be statements of facts going by the manner at which the Blame Game is being played in this political moment. 1. Tinubu is as responsible for the successes of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration as much as he's for his failures. 2. Tinubu is as responsible for his success and that of his successors (Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo-Olu) as much as he takes the blame for his failures and that of his successors. 3. Peter Obi is as responsible for his successes and that of his successors (Obiano and Soludo) as he's responsible for their failures. 4. We're are the architect of our own misfortunes. 2023 is around the corner, let's go about convincing and canvassing votes/supports for our preferred candidates by employing constructive criticism and issue based campaign and not exploring the centripetal forces such as religion, ethnicity and blind loyalty to political party. As a peoples, we are as responsible for the success of Nigeria as much as for it's failure. Adeyemi Babarinde Sunday. |
