I laugh. The Igbos have aligned with the North for far too long and only play second fiddle. Starting with Azikiwe and Balewa/Ahmade Bello, where Zik got a ceremonial president as against Balewa becoming a constitutionally powerful Prime minister. Despite the fact that Zik could have simply worked with Awo to get a simple majority and one of them hold the prime minister position, they had to cede it to the North (who were not even involved in mst of the independence discussions) that was not even ready to govern as at 1957( 2-3 years prior)

Then in the second republic, Ekwueme got vice president and Shagari got President while some Igbo states gladly voted for NPN against there own ZIK and against a fellow southern Awo.

Then in 2023, after voting PDP since 1999 and even working hard to resuscitate the party when APC won in 2015 and most of the northern politicians moved to APC, leaving only IGbos and SS , the party could still not naturally give an Igbo man and force the same northerners (they've always aligned with) to work for the Igbo man, to the point they had to force him out of the party.... But na yoruba wey be say this is our second major alliance (with the north), you dey yab.... Our first alliance produced Abiola, who got the party ticket, won election and after election was annulled forced the whole nation to do the right thing and zone presidency to us 6 years later. Our second alliance led to the VP slot plus the party ticket for 2023. Just twice and we made moe progress than the 5 or 6 times Igbos Aligned.

The Yoruba are the alpha tribe in the South. For every democratic alliance we forge with the Northerners, we always benefit on the long run. Except few which the military guys reneged on.

OBJ handed power to them in 1979 and they compensated him in 1999 with power.

Buhari did alliance with Tinubu in 2014, and now Tinubu got the ticket for APC for next year election.

Awo never forged any cogent alliance with the North politically except when he agreed to work with Gowon which is not neccessarily a party coalition.

Contrast that with the Igbos, Azikiwe and Ekwueme forged political alliance with the North and they were treated as slaves and not handed any power. The current Igbo politicians forged alliance with PDP caucus and for almost 22 years, they were not given the mantle of even ordinary party primary ticket.

Lol if you look at the South well, Yorubas are the alpha tribe.

Historically, the SS + SE usually align together most times and yet the Yorubas always have the greatest political success in the south even with the fact that we are minority when you count population of SS+SE in the south.

Infact Yoruba Muslims for example are minorities in the South with regards to religion. Yet, a Yoruba Muslims called Abiola have been elected as president before even if the military truncated his win. Something an Igbo man never achieved even as a southern majority.

Same Yoruba Muslim Tinubu was able to get the presidential ticket of a ruling party, something a majority Christian Igbo has never achieved in their almost 70 years of existence since 1960.

When we talk of Alpha tribe in the south, it is the Yorubas. We get what we want and we achieve that not through noise or crying, we just plan and use our innate intelligence.
