Chelsea have been massively underrated both in general pre-season predictions and this upcoming clash at the weekend against Spurs. Many in the media have been looking for any evidence of negativity to predict the demise of Chelsea after the events of the last few months of last season. It began with their flawed assumptions about our new American owners being frugal and not being willing to spend big on transfers. That has quieted down in recent weeks but their reportage about doom and gloom at SW6 still persists mainly because of Tuchel. We may not have been at our best last time out but a win at Everton has been tough to come by in 5 years so permit me for not so pessimistic afterwards. People also seem to forget that Everton's home form has picked up in 2022, it took an 85 minute winner from Foden for City to win at Goodison park. It was also the scene of Rodri's infamous handball that went unpunished, it could easily have ended in a draw.

I have respect for what Conte has done so far with Spurs but I can say unequivocally that Chelsea are still better than them. Chelsea have lost only one first choice player in Rudiger and after watching our game at Goodison, I can boldly say Koulibaly is an able replacement and could even end up as an upgrade on him. We've also replaced the poor and lumbering Lukaku with the electric pace and goals of Sterling, so I honestly don't see how Spurs are better all of a sudden.
