Watch what you eat. It’s a bit of a challenge in a country like Nigeria, but try and have a weekly diet rich in fish, nuts, vegetables, fruits, legumes and white meat like chicken.….and less of red meat and carbohydrates! Eat wholemeal brown bread instead of white bread and brown rice instead of white. Try to reduce or eliminate entirely alcohol and sugar intake, and nobody needs to advise you on the dangers of smoking….or, in extreme cases, drugs!

Exercise regularly at less three times a week…well spaced out, and try walking more and using the car or public transport less.

And, as a poster noted above, try not to take life too seriously. This will help ward off depression which can lead to HBP and other complications that may arise from it.
