Lets assume 200,000 barrel per day of crude oil is being stolen. Let's multiply that by a conservative $50 peer barrel. When multiplied, you get $10m per day. Let's multiply that by the official rate of ₦420 and that's ₦4.2b per day! That's how much government wants to spend monthly to prevent oil theft.

Note that my figures above are conservative estimates. Nigeria has been producing 1.4m barrels per day which is below the OPEC quota of 1.8m a day. That's 400,000 barrels per day lost. It is rumored that production has dropped to 1. 2m per day presently.

Also, the article mentioned that this isnt the first time Tompolo has been used. He was successful in the past and he might do the same magic today
