His comparisons are empty and childish........... As a drowning man is just holding on everything to remain afloat..... He should ask how is he be able to be in business with rate of over 700naira a dollar as against 170 seven years ago in same business.. He should have been happy seeing him surviving in business against all odds |

American is arguably the greatest country in the world and runs the biggest economy in the world as well, yet they import many finished products from China, India, etc. there’s no one country that is self sustaining in everything; every country depends one way or the other on others - the world is now a global village, Nigeria cannot be an exception! We must continue to import goods as we must also make efforts to improve our manufacturing capabilities. Import and export go together. I think blaming an import for the fall of naira is more mischievous than factual. I believe what Peter Obi offers is to ramp up our productive capacity. I stand with Peter Obi |

Why should imported tomatoes be cheaper than the local produced ones? Is that not greediness on the side of local producers? |

| Re: Reno Omokri: How Peter Obi Is Driving Down The Value Of The Naira And Local Manu by Agboriotejoye(m): 4:12pm On Aug 22, 2022 |
Blanks1:So how does he intend to ramp up our productive capacity when he is an importer of finished goods Besides, that doesn't remove from the fact that such imports is what is killing our naira |

MossLuv:Imported tomatoes is not cheaper than local ones. But majority of Nigerian elites prefer foreign products to local ones. It's a class thing. Thus, Obi is feeding their foreign taste and killing the naira in return. |

Agboriotejoye:Is Nigeria the only country that are still importing finished goods ? Those items he is importing, are country ban ? Is not paying tax to the government? Naira is falling coz we refused to produce. Don't blame business people, except their business is illegal |

abobote:All this does not remove from the fact that importation is killing our Naira. For example, we all blame govt for not doing enough to encourage businesses. Yet someone like Peter Obi with all his connections and reach can't think of opening a tomato processing plant in Nigeria with the tonnes of tomato that go to waste every year. Instead, he prefers to import finished goods from other countries thereby making Nigeria a dumping ground for foreign goods. Why can't Peter Obi open a tomato processing plant in Nnewi? How will he move us from consumption to production when he's one of the biggest enablers of our consumption affliction? |

Obi is a fraud. His Next Malls are 100% imported goods. He is part of the biggest cabal depleting our fx and creating dollar scarcity. |

Reno is an illiterate just like Buhari. They both are myopic and use kindergarten-level intelligence. When Buhari banned importation of rice in order to boost Naira what happened? Rice prices tripled and Naira fell disastrously. Yet, we still import rice. The only person driving down the value of Naira is Buhari for two reasons. He couldn't produce enough crude oil for foreign exchange and secondly, he has racked up so much debt that would take generations to pay up. Whenever someone try to blame others for importing foreign goods, I just shake my head for such person. |
