Suleman Lawal alias Akiru, a National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) leader in Mile 12, Lagos, was slain yesterday when violence erupted in the region.

According to reports, the violence was caused by an ongoing feud between the Aiye and Eiye cult groups.

Residents and motorists in the neighborhood who resorted to social media to beg security intervention voiced concern about the situation escalating.

"I have information that Mile 12 is boiling as I type," Valerian Nwadike remarked, raising the alarm about the collision. The pandemonium is the consequence of a cult fight; I've notified the appropriate authorities; please take notice and use care if you are near that axis."

"The command is aware of the violent confrontation taking place in the Owode-Elede region of the state," said police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin. DPO Owode-Onirin is in charge of the issue. Reinforcement is on the way. We're keeping an eye on everything."
