This interpretation is even more blasphemous. Tower of Babel is a symbol of disunity. The confusion and disunity God afflicted them was punishment for their act of rebellion and arrogance. In other words, the story of Babel explains how /why we had different languages leading to confusion and tribalism and eventually disunity. So saying we inherited it from the Bible would mean we inherited our current disunity from the Bible.

So those linking what Tinubu said to the Tower of Babel should have a rethink.

Speaking In Tongues means "Gift of Tongues". In English, there's a term called 'collocation'. Collocation, according to Wikipedia "refers to a natural (predictable) combination of words that are closely affiliated with each other."
Speaking in Tongues has no affiliation with the Tower of Babel disunity. This is why if you trace the origin of 'speaking in Tongues', you won't see the story of Babel.

So my advice is that Tinubu should learn how to speak coherently before he inadvertently blaspheme against Islam. We know what would happen next.

There's more to speaking in tongues than we have made of it in Acts 2. Make your research more about tongues in line with Act 2 and reference it to 1 Cor 13... And get better understanding. Ensure you use not just a translation for proper understanding.

Without Bible and Christ who will there ever be the word "speaking in tongue" the truth is speaking in tongues is most common among us ( xtians) and even less than 99 percent of xtians even speak in tongue.

With all speakers of speaking in tongues their life always remain same and no physical or spiritual changes....

Did you just received the gift without having gone through the bible and prayed in line for it. Do you ask for what you have no knowledge about?

Will a man just wake up and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit if he has not first had knowledge about the gift of the Spirit. No wonder we have sinners making lots of noise in our today churches all in the name of tongues because they heard a man spoke or talked about tongues.

Faith commeth by Hearing, and Hearing through the word of God. So there's nothing wrong if he said we received or inherited speaking in tongues from the Bible. Or is the Bible no longer the word of God that was inspired by the Holy Spirit just because Tinubu said we inherited from the bible?

I commend your maturity too. I also appreciate you were able to get my point. As for the angles people are arguing on (I have seen several), I think it all boils down on context. People are reading different meanings.

Speaking in Tongues is NOT same as Confusion of Tongues. It's blasphemous to say we inherited confusion from the Bible.

I have challenged all of you, show me where 'Speaking in Tongues' was linked to the Tower of Babel. The phrase "Speaking in Tongues" is not just some random words strung together. It's a Biblical term. In Linguistics, it's called "collocation". Google "Speaking in Tongues", and check its etymology. You won't see any "Tower of Babel". The Babel story is by far an older event as it's recorded in Genesis. So why would the etymology of the phrase "Speaking in Tongues" be traced to the New testament? Simple. Because it's a biblical term and because of the linguistic terms called "collocation" and "context". That's why if you are in a Christian gathering and you use the phrase, no one would think of Babel.

As for the phrase itself, it is a gift from the Holy Spirit. It's NOT inherited. Not every Tom, Dick and Harry will be gifted with the Spirit. You don’t mock the Holy Spirit by saying what He gifts to whom He wants can be inherited by every Tom FROM THE BIBLE. That's an insult. And blasphemous.
