We have long been held hostage by the idea that the so-called monolithic 'North' - mainly the North West and North East - holds all the aces in determining the direction of presidential power in Nigeria. The time to permanently debunk this annoying notion is now. If the South East, South South, Middle Belt (Plateau, Benue Taraba/Nasarawa) can align once and for all, with support from sizable Christian populations in Kaduna, Adamawa, Bauchi, Sokoto, and pockets of the South West, then Peter Obi will be delivered as president WITHOUT the input of the so-called core North... This is given that the core North as it stands will be balkanised between Atiku, Kwankwaso and Tinubu. It is really that simple. If the SE/SS/Middle Belt, Christian North, and sprinkles of conscientious South West misses this golden opportunity, then the hegemony of the mythical core North will be perpetuated in a manner that will not be undone in this generation.
