1) it requires further conplex processes to convert the coca leaf to cocaine

Cocaine is illegal because the US says it is illegal, if trafficking of cocaine causes all these problems like murder, theft, and all the other serious crimes. Legalise it! sell it in the shops legally and tax it, Afterall alcohol and ciggarettes are as harmful as cocaine but people can buy them from the shops.
