But people attend universities just to study a different language for their self-development. Do you even know what you are writing?

Their are so many tribes in Africa that saw the light before the British. Know this as an expo.

You see what I'm saying you are a product of failed British educational system

I am unapologetically Igbo when you mentioned my land you talked about the Great Igbo tribe like you do everyday ....you talk about us so much you do without even knowing

Honestly I can understand your obsession with a people so great you know no matter what you do they would always be ahead of you

yes, they brought western clothes, they even taught women how to wash their clothes

I am sure you have never been to the museum before.

infact the language you are writing, if not because for the British, you wouldn't have been able to read and write plus be useful to society.
First they brought clothes, now it's western clothes. We still proudly wear our own native clothes and that's what count. White man didn't bring clothes for my ancestors, I don't know about yours.
African women were using ashes from leaves or sieved charcoal to wash their clothes before advent of soap. Obviously the stupid museum u attended didn't show u. Ode

It's no big deal writing to u in English. That's the effective and convenient way to communicate in today's modern and globalised world. English simply replaced Latin.
If russian and Chinese diplomats are to have a meeting today in the same room, they will speak to each other in English. Does that mean Russians and Chinese are slaves to UK?
You are not smart, that's your problem.

anyway people that are great don't remind themselves that they are great everyday. grin

the British conquered almost every corner of the earth, they didn't have to remind themselves that they were great, their actions speak for themselves, the history books wrote all about their greatness

yea, the native you wear isn't African but Indonesia, the British merchants brought it here

don't try to revise history, it is fact, that your forefathers were going about naked in the 18th century until they got into contact with the British and other foreign traders looking to expand their markets

so if charcoal and ashes from leaves were effective in washing clothes, then they would have continued using them instead of leaving them for Soap.

you keep saying trash,

these are facts, Nigeria was colonized by the British, English is the official language, you were born in a country that speaks English, went to nursery schools, where you were taught English and English alphabets, attended primary, secondary schools and university that teach and speak English, in fact speaking English is part of you from birth. so it makes no sense to compare yourself with Latin or a Russian or china man.

another funniest stuff is that the alphabet in your local languages were created by British linguistics because none of you were advanced enough to do it

how come you are not reading and writing in your local language?

my natives clothes came from where? definitely not ASO-OKE or ARAN.

samuel ajayi crowther developed the romanised yoruba writing system not any british linguists. Prior to that yoruba language was written in ajami scripts among the muslims faithful. Muslims community in Iwo were writing their wills in ajami scripts while Ilorin musicians wrote the lyrics of their were music in ajami in the 19th century.

technology and invention is meant to make our lives better, is it not. soap is more convenient and less stressful, so we abandoned ashes. Point is our women understood cleanliness and hygiene before meeting the white man. say something else.

You learn with the language of relevance. English is the global official language and only makes sense to be well versed in it. It has plenty advantage, why do u think its very easy for nigerians and indians to japa. If u want to learn in your native language no one is stopping u, primary education medium of instruction ought to the mother tongue according to the federal ministry of education. Take your child to public primary school and watch him teach you mathematics in your local language.

Igbos and their wahala. "They hate us and want to wipe us out" yet you won't stay in your land to make it Dubai so you can stay away from your "haters".

Yorubas hate you yet there are circa 8-10 million Igbos in the SW. Northerners hate you yet you are in their land in million.

The Queen hates you and the Brits are the cause of of all your problems yet you won't stop queueing in the hot sun at the British embassy in Lagos to japa to UK.

What kind of aberrancy is afflicting Igbos? What is tormenting their souls this badly, hatefully and perversely?

Aso oke is made from cotton and when did you think cotton was introduced into Africa?

i am sure you must have gone to copy and paste from Wikipedia because I know you to be a coconut head grin

now let's get the fact right.

Samuel Ajayi was saved by a British patrol, patrolling the sea in search of slaves ships, he was rescued and sent to Freetown,
Samuel Ajayi studied in England, thanks to the British
Samuel ajayi used English vowels and a lot of borrowed calques from English to make his yoruba grammar

My simple question to you?

How come nobody could form the Yoruba alphabet and grammar structure before Samuel Ajayi got educated in England?

2. The Ajami script you are bragging about isn't indigenous to Yoruba land. the Hausa and Swahili people also used it, it was just an Arabic script used by the Arabs to write African languages. the ajami script is also on the coat of arm of the Nigerian army.

the technology of the white man is more convenient, if the white man hasn't arrived, they would have been using the same method till today.

i will advise you to stop babbling, English is the official language of Nigeria because Nigeria was colonized by the British, so stop gaslighting, we are talking about Nigeria not English as a global language.

An average ndi-dot is such an ungrateful and toxic specie.

The same igbos that are painting Tinubu bad, the same man that accept and accomodate them in Lagos, accomodate them into political positions and goverment cabinet, not leaving them to their suffering state in the south-east.

It either they are ungratefully going back to chop-off the finger that 'fed' them or Biting the finger that 'feeds' them. Ungrateful Lot.

That same UJu of a woman, am very sure she benefitted from the early schools the british christian evangelism brought to Nigeria. If not, she wouldnt have been a professor she is today.

But as usual, all thing doesnt matter to them except the deep hate they always nurture for everyone else, Languishing in the ocean of pain and hatred, blaming everyone for their unfortunatr misfortune except themselves.

Infact an average ibo person is worst than a fulani man who doesnt forgive easily.

Reason why i dont and will never support Peter. An igbo administration will be worst than Abacha regime, because to them it is always about payback.
tribalist now you are comparing the Brits to dirty Tinubu.

This is the most stupid post I have read in a while, I hope you understand the difference between British Missionaries which are mostly Scottish and Irish by the way, the colonialists are different people.

The missionaries brought education, Christianity and so on, the British colonialists came with guns with every intention to steal and kill, the British business men also played significant role but they committed several crimes as well but non could be compared to the genocide of the colonialists, I hope you also know That before the British there was the Portuguese

See this one wants to tell me about Aso oke. Go and do more research on the cloth and come back to engage me. U can start with this.

ASO-OKE, THE TRADITIONAL MATERIAL MAKING A VERY MODERN COMEBACK
Words by Elaine Okoye

Aso-Oke is the short version of the more formal Aso Ilu Oke which roughly translates to ‘clothes from the up-country’. It is the traditional wear of the Yoruba tribe who originate from the south-west of Nigeria. They are the second largest tribe in the Nigeria and Aso-oke is often worn as a celebration cloth on special occasions and important events.

Aso-oke is a special hand-woven cloth and over centuries has become somewhat of the style marker of the Yoruba tribe. It was said to have been created in Yorubaland around the 15th century and since then spread around the land and its environs.

https://www.onchek.com/theinsight/asooke-the-traditional-material-making-a-very-modern-comeback/

I don't understand the epistle u writing on ajayi crowther and ajami script.
So what exactly is your point. Every civilization copy from another. English copied from Roman, Roman copied from Greek, Greeks copied from Phoenicians, Phoenicians copied from earlier mesopotamian civilisation.

U made some bogus claim and I debunked it.

U said British brought clothes for Africans. I debunked it by proving Yoruba were making clothes b4 coming in contact with colonialist.

U claimed British taught us how to write. I proved that Yoruba people already developed their own writing system before coming in contact with British.

U claimed an unknown British linguist developed the romanised Yoruba system of writing. I proved that wasn't true. A Yoruba man developed it.

Now u babbling about English language. We learning with English is borne out of necessity. If we want to abandon it, we will. Rwanda changed their official language from Belgian to English despite it was colonised by Belgium. Our use of English as medium of instruction as nothing to do with colonisation.

I don't really understand your aimless babbling. Stick to a point and make yourself clear.
All u half baked lazy ignoramus whose knowledge of Africa is based on what the white man wrote about africa. Do your own research on Africa and your eyes will clear.
