The boys were at a disadvantage supporting football. They were up against several forms of entertainment.

The guys limited themselves. What happened to other sports like Athletics ft likes of long jump, hurdle(that have made a lady Tobi Amusan) a sensation, interesting sports in the Olympics like gymnastics that relaxes one & many others without violence. Why focus only on football?
