The writer seeks to frame the Biafra war as a battle between thr Igbos who had their reasons and a "brutal" Federal Government who came to power in a 1966 Coup.

However if you are knowledgeable about Nigeran history, you would realise that Ojukwu was part of that 1966 Government, and was appointed Military Governor of Eastern Region by Ironsi himself.

Infact not only was Ojukwu head of the Eastern region, he was a member of the 10 man Supreme Military Council that ruled Nigeria.

In simple terms, Ojukwu WAS the Federal Government.

When you see an article that omits such a crucial element from the story, you realise thar you're dealing with serious bias and there's some agenda to the story - in this one, it's to attack Harold Wilson and UK involvement in foreign wars which is very much on brand for the Guardian.
