CAN Demands Return Of CRK In Borno Schools. Who Banned It? by Built2last: 6:03pm On Sep 19, 2022 |
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Borno State Chapter has demanded “teaching and employment of Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) in both primary and secondary schools” in the State. CAN also pleaded with the Borno State Government to rebuild all churches demolished by the Borno Geographic Information System (BOGIS). This is even as it appreciated the effort of the Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum for his prompt action in ensuring that justice is done and for identifying with the family of the deceased, late Ezekiel Bitrus who was shot dead by a security attache of BOGIS when youths of EYN Church Moduganari attempted to halt the Agency from demolishing the church. In a press statement issued and made available to Journalists in Maiduguri yesterday, the Coordinator Borno Concerned Christian Youth Forum, Mr Ezra Bulus, said resolution and demands of the Forum were made during the remembrance service for the late Ezekiel Bitrus last Sunday. Mr Bulus said: “As we all know that we are here to remember our brother, late Ezekiel Bitrus who died on the 5th of August 2021, when a local church branch of EYN Moduganari was demolished by BOGIS, led by its Executive Secretary, Engr Adams Bababe and for launching and dedication of album left behind by the deceased. “ https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/09/can-demands-return-of-crk-in-borno-schools/ |

The FG reforms about 5 years ago removed CRK and IRK from the national curriculum and made them a theme under civic education 1 Like

Back then in my senior secondary school days (1995-1998), I took CRK because it was a compulsory subject for Arts students. I was a street boy and I used to be very rude and stubborn; although I never played with my studies. Some topics in CRK then caught my attention and they eventually changed my character till today. One big fact those in charge of our curriculum should know about CRK is that this subject is not just about promoting Christianity, it is rather a veritable tool to shape the moral mindsets of young people. Another advantage of this subject is that you can't be good at CRK and be poor at creative writing. Both are interwoven. Same with literature. |

Before CAN spew the hogwash and bigoted thoughts on rebuilding Ch*rch*s and CRK, let them go to Enugu, Anambra and other Southern states to resume teaching of Islamic Studies in their states! Same CAN that opposed Muslim female students in the SW wearing Hijab now asking a state with 95% Muslims to employ CRK teachers! No be madness be that! CAN is a Terrorists organisation with this thought! |
