Britain, USA, Russia, Egypt, Sudan, Syria, Niger, Cameroon, and Chad against Biafra that was eventually blockaded, bombed and straffed from all sides while food and medical supplies were totally cutoff. Despite having numerical advantage, airspace control, naval blockade and endless supply of aircrafts, tanks and ammunitions, Nigeria still had to import Godogodo mercenaries from Chad and Egyptian pilots.

I read WikiLeaks revelations about how Harold Wilson, the then Prime minister of UK had to be smuggling ship loads of tanks, guns and ammunitions under cover to Nigeria just because he was scared that Biafra might win and cutoff UK control of Nigeria and in extension the oil resources. You can't read that report without shedding tears about man's inhumanity to fellow man.

I read an interview where Ojukwu was boasted that he would defeat Nigeria should they attack Biafra, and now I understand he was truly capable except that he never envisaged he would be coming up against imperial forces. Had it been Biafra and Nigeria were left alone without interference, Biafra would have routed Nigeria.
