Loyalists of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State have pulled out of the campaign council of Atiku Abubakar, Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This comes amid the pressure on the party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, to step down and allow a Southerner lead the party.

Amid the pressure on Ayu to step down, Walid Jibrin, had relinquished his role as the Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman of the opposition party, but Wike’s camp rejected this.

Last week when Atiku visited Oyo to meet with party loyalists, Governor Seyi Makinde, a strong ally of Wike, had reiterated the call for Ayu to step down.

This had divided stakeholders in the South West as majority queued behind the PDP National Chairman, who is currently out of the country.

Rising from a meeting in Port Harcourt on Wednesday morning, Wike’s loyalists vowed not to partake in Atiku’s campaign activities until Ayu resigns.

Chief Olabode George, who walked out of the meeting where Jibrin’s resignation was announced, read the communique of the group.

Even if they are part of the campaign they will still work against Atiku so let them pull out. Afterall Ayu is just a victim of circumstance. It was wike that removed seconds and now he want to remove Ayu. If wike leaves, another powerful politician will emerge from Rivers State. If it is the will of God that Atiku should be the next president, wike and his group can not stop it.

With or without Wike the SOUTH WEST IS PDP. After Pdp victories in Osun State governorship Election last July 16, next is Ogun State and Ondo states. Besides Pdp will clear 5 states out of 6 states for Atiku on February 25th presidential election. Nigerians says no to Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of APC. Tinubu the drug baron is a goner.

That's what people don't understand until now, it's beyond removing Ayu as chairman, it's deeper than that and Atiku perfectly knows this, that's why his foot dragging!! Wike's camp don't have intention of supporting Atiku whatsoever, Ayu resignation is just a decoy for 2027 election

They will still work against the party even if Ayu resigns, with PDP chairman from their camp, they can dictate who gets PDP presidential ticket in 2027.. and Atiku knows this
