Hope Uzodimma @Hope_Uzodimma1

I am impressed at the level of work ongoing at the Naval Base, Oguta which is an integral part in the creation of economic zone around the gas-rich region of Imo State, as I proposed to the Federal Government.

From the Oguta Lake, we took a ride to Orashi River on inspection of the channel yesterday, ahead of the dredging to Atlantic Ocean, as approved by the Federal Government.

We cannot underscore the enormous economic opportunities that will spring up from this project. We will continue to harness every of our God-given resources for the development of our State and beyond.

Uzodimma: Orashi River portends great economic benefit to S’East

25th September 2022 in National

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State with officials of his government and those of the Nigerian Navy on Saturday while on a tour of Orashi River from the Oguta Lake, declared that the river portends great economic benefit to the South East.

According to a release issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser Oguwike Nwachuku, Governor Uzodimma told the media after the tour that when the place was finally opened up, it would not only serve as good corridor for the Navy to access other waterways, but would serve as a huge source of economic revitalisation in Imo State, South East and beyond.

The Deputy Governor, Prof Placid Njoku; Chief of Staff, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie and other top government officials were part of the tour alongside the Navy led by the Commander of Oguta Naval Base in Imo State, Navy Captain A. W. Umaru.

Governor Uzodimma said he was optimistic that those who live on the water banks of the Oguta Lake as well as others commuting from there to other parts of Imo and the neighbouring states would be better off when the place was fully activated.

The governor had met with officials of the Nigerian Navy on Friday in Government House, Owerri, in furtherance of discussion on approval given by President Muhammadu Buhari for the dredging of Orashi River from Oguta lake to link the Atlantic Ocean for the enhancement of economic activities on that corridor.

Addressing the media on the essence of his meeting with the Navy, Governor Uzodimma said it was in furtherance of the discussions and proposals by the state to the Federal Government to pursue her Gas Industrialisation Policy on the Oguta Lake and Orashi River axis.

Governor Uzodimma said that the Government of Imo State “considered it expedient to propose to the Nigerian Navy for a partnership to open the access of Oguta Lake and Orashi River up to the sea in River State to enable bigger vessels come into Imo State.”

The governor said: “We realised the project would help manage the security situation in the area, eliminate cases of crude oil stealing, pipeline vandalism and enhance security.”

He added that the realisation of the project would “stimulate economic activities, create more jobs for our people and then boost the economy of the state.”

Speaking on the reason for their meeting/visit, Rear Admiral Silyranda Lassa who represented Rear Admiral Gambo said recently they “established a Naval Base at Oguta which has helped in addressing certain security challenges in the area.”

The Federal Government's approval for the dredging of Urashi River, in Imo State, to the Atlantic Sea is a welcome development and a product of our gainful engagement with the Federal Government on great opportunities within the gas reserve region.

The economic zone, which I applied to the Federal Government under my Gas Industrialization Program, will see to the establishment of an economic hub within the region of Imo State that is high on gas reserve.

I commend President Muhammadu Buhari for identifying with the enormous opportunities in our proposal, which has given rise to this approval.

With available infrastructures and system already in place within the region, our partnership with the Federal Government on this project, will greatly transform the State and the nation.

I doubt if the Oguta river port will see the light of the day.

Anyways If hope tried all means to look for investors.

We don't know how far about Akwaibom seaport. Weather they've seen investors or not

What oguta needs is refinery and petrochemical industry and not naval base .
Of what economic benefit is a naval base that would be giving Fulani herdsmen coverage to Imo state and oguta.

Why are igbo politicians commissioning useless projects .

Refinery Will Keep boys out of the street and not naval base

You can accuse and insult Hope Uzodinma for anything, but nobody can deny him the credit of having the right skills to get favour from Buhari.

This is something that loquacious Rochas Okorocha couldn't do for the state for 8 years.

If everything goes as planned, Imo State will become a major gas region and that will create massive jobs and rocket IGR of the state.

And this is supposed to be a plus? FG projects are now being sentimentally dished? So one now has to pander to the emotions of a supposed president in order to get him to do his duty? What's the difference between that and a monarchy/dictatorship? Kukuma crown Buhari King let all the governors come and asslick him before they can attract federal projects. As if it's his personal cash he's using to fund those projects.

I keep saying that the damage Buhari has done to the psyche of the average Nigerian will take decades to repair. This country has never been this divided since it's independence. There's no longer brotherly love amongst Nigerians due to envy and distrust that was sowed by Buhari himself. From the day he made that 5% statement, It was visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that a dark cloud has been drawn over our country's atmosphere. It has been a continuous downward spiral for Nigeria since then.

In as much as I don't like this man, one thing is obvious. He has balls of steel. Challenging ESN fire for fire even when they brought the war to his home shows he has some fighter in him.

But please if he doesn't win this elections, let him relocate fully to Abuja or London.

The whole Southeast states shouldn't be seen on the wrong side of the Federal Government. Somebody has to be close to get the desired benefits

Compromise in doing one's duty? Are you okay?? They should beg him or compel him to do his duty to the country? Isn't that why the monarchy was abolished? What's the difference between what you're proposing and a monarchy/dictatorship?
