Nigerian Airways: Did Peter Obi lie in this Interview? by Officialgarri(op):
In a quick interview, Peter Obi was asked if he would bring back Nigerian Airways. He succinctly gave a Negative answer, stating that any business run by a government will fail. He also stated that the government could be a minor holder of the company.

When challenged about Emirates Airlines, he claimed that Emirate Airline isn't owned by the government in a bid to cover his flawed argument

Fact Check:
Peter Obi stated he wouldn't bring back Nigerian airways because any business having its shares owned largely by the Government is poised to fail.
It is clear that Peter Obi wasn't aware that the Nigerian Airways is owned by the private sector and only 5% is owned by the Nigerian Government.
This is evident in the recently released Employment Advert

When asked about Emirates, Peter Obi claimed that Emirates is a private organization and the government owns a part of it.
According to center for Aviation, Wikipedia and many credible sources, the Emirates /group is wholly owned by the Government of Dubai .

Among all the Presidential candidates Peter Obi is the most uninformed of them. He knows very little about governance at Federal level and is a reckless speaker that I've recently ever seen in Nigeria's polity!

undecided

1) You are the ignoramus here for not knowing the difference between a Monarchy and a Democratic Republic - especially as it relates to private/public/state business ownership.

2) Your home work: (a) tell me who is the Founder/CEO of the Emirate Group and (b) tell me who is the Founder/CEO of the Nigerian Airways.

By doing the above assignment, you'd learn something you did not know, and perhaps tender an apology to PO when the realization hits you. .

Peter Obi did not tell any lie .Nigeria Airways is different from Nigeria Air Limited. Nigeria Airways collasped because it was fully owned by our Government. Hence FG is now trying to do the right by floating Nigeria Air Limited which the private sector will have the majority share.

Emirate Airline is owned by the Government of Dubai. However Dubai has a monarch hence the Airline is owned by the Royal family of Dubai. This means that it is actually a private Airline that represents the city of Dubai.

You guys can defend a murderer as long as the murderer is one of your own.
Where's all the bullshit of emirate family coming from? You just think everyone here is a dunce like you Obi supporters. Why don't you say Buhari owns NNPC since he's the president, hence, NNPC is private owned.

And what is bringing Nigerian Air limited which is another total nonsense to distract attention from the obvious fact that FG only owns 5% of the company

Your hatred for Peter Obi is not allowing you to accept the facts before you. Nigeria Airways is different from Nigeria Air Limited. Peter Obi is right because Nigeria Airways was fully owned by the FG which made it to collapse.
Assuming he mentioned Nigeria Air Limited, I would have agreed with you that he is wrong.

The kind of Government practise in UAE is different from our own. You have to read wide. Buhari cannot own NNPC because he is not the King of Nigeria but an elected President.
British Airways for instance belong to the British Government. Assuming the British Royal family establish their own Airline and name it " London Airline" , it will not belong to the Government but the Royal family because the Government and Royal family are different in Britian.

Emirate Airline belong to the Dubai Royal family. However in this case, the Royal family is also the Government of Dubai. Hence the Airline also belong to the Government of Dubai which is the Royal family.
This means that Emirate Airline is a private Airline that functions as public Airline.

Obi is a dullard. He went on CNN and failed woefully. His performance was so pathetic producer had to cut him off abruptly and end interview.

He has no facts but continues to put on acts like he knows. A dullard!
