That is what I am trying to see
Annexation by Russia does not say it has stopped the hostilities against ukraine
Ukraine has not said it has stopped hostilities against the 4 regions now under Russia federation!

So if Ukraine should strike what happens
War!
What happens next?

Ukraine should have stuck with minsk2 agreement

Hostilities will not stop. As at now, fighting is still ongoing while the 4 regions were being annexed in Moscow.

But the rebels did not ceasefire even after the minsk2 agreement was signed. I might be wrong but I think I read something along that line.

It was Ukraine that dropped the minsk2 agreement o!
And continued the fight because the agreement required Ukraine to pull out it's troops

In pink: the territories that Russia conquered from Ukraine and controls today.

The black border: the territories that Putin declared today as Russian territories.

Re: Gov. by Nobody: 2:41pm On Sep 30, 2022
You probably downloaded this from a pro-ukrainian source. The rebels were beating the Ukrainian army black and blue and the region is a nest of natural resources. Ukraine was counting on western support to retake the donbas and they got it.
