The prediction that Ukraine would fall within 3 days was from Westerns sources. The Russians never gave a timeline for their invasion. Also, Putin never stated he wanted to capture Kiev. What he wanted to do is similar to what he did to Georgia in 2008 after surrounding their capital. It was his own way of avoiding total war. Remember, he had the chance to just grab Georgia. Instead, he called his troops back opamoses1: |

Uprightness100:Mostly Russian allies or strategic partners but USA stands out and based on the accuracy of their Intel's since last year(months before Putin struck), nuclear use could be close. Let me also add that I don't believe Ukraine is hitting Belgorod, Russia. Putin wants to save his own face and head and probably used captured Ukrainian stockpiles to stage an attack on Russian soil. |
| Re: Gov. by Nobody: 6:01pm On Oct 16, 2022 |
This is a very huge and complex conflict and Ukraine is just a minor part of it all. If Russia goes all out on Ukraine before properly gauging NATO strength, he may leave loopholes behind that they may use to attack Russia and you cannot predict the recklessness of the current western leaders. Also, Putin would rather not fight Ukraine if he could just project strength and scare them into negotiations. Unfortunately that failed. It is also possible he is counting on a weakening of the American hegemony that can counter him before striking PurpleHouse: |

TriittNG:"About 60,000 people convened for the rally in Chisinau," he said. The rally is taking place on the Stephen the Great Boulevard as police sealed off the access to the main square. Protesters chant "Down with the government!", "Down with [Moldovan President] Maia Sandu!", "Early elections!", "No to dictatorship!", and set off smoke flares. Parliament members representing the Shor Party and Moldova’s Communist Party are making speeches. |

atmy1:And where did I say Russia gave a timeline. The timeline we saw on Nairaland were from Putin supporters that stated 3 days, then the Sunday after the invasion, then kept on shifting the goal post, and eventually stopped giving a timeline. Or can you share a screenshot where I posted that "Russian sources" said Ukraine would fall in 3 days. Wasn't it USA (West) that offered Zelensky asylum immediately after the invasion? Putin however said he could capture Kyiv in 2 weeks if he wanted to. Kremlin did not deny this and only said Putin statement was taken out of context. Its even better for Russia if he captures Kyiv ASAP so the war can end but he seems to be finding it difficult to do that.

TriittNG:Protests started in Moldova in the summer, taking place in different regions of the country. Protesters accuse the pro-European government of failing to grapple with the economic crisis, rapidly rising prices and falling living standards. Officials are also criticized for their unwillingness to hold talks with Russia to achieve better gas prices and for putting pressure on opposition members, whose leaders were arrested. Citizens of countries joining price cap on Russian gas will have to pay for it - Kremlin On September 25, a group of 15 countries called on the European Commission to introduce a price cap for all gas imports. However, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands opposed the initiative, saying that it would harm efforts to contain Europe’s energy crisis. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the need for a price cap only for Russian gas. |

dvkot:The war will not lead to a nuclear war. Either of the parties involved will get tired and call for negotiation, provided NATO don't make mistake. Because Russia is fighting Ukraine, and not a NATO member. If they don't overstep their boundaries. Russia will not attack first. It won't lead to a nuclear war. Russia has not attacked NATO and she is not going to. The idea that Russia wants to recreate Soviet Union is nonsense. NATO military strength is far stronger than Russian. They have more air power, ground troops, naval power e.t.c than Russia. They are even richer. We are talking about more than 20+ countries for God sake. Russia may(50-50) be able to defend itself against NATO but don't have the capacity to go on offensive against them. NB: This is just my opinion. Anything can happen. War is like football. Small team sometimes beat big team. |

Biden's Rating Hits Rock Bottom as Poll Finds Only 1/3 Would Reelect Him Senior Democratic officials began hinting publicly at the need to replace Joe Biden as the party’s candidate for president this summer, citing concerns over his mental fitness, his stalled agenda, economic and inflation woes, and fears that he could sink the party if matched up against Donald Trump. Biden has promised to run again. |

Social media reports of Israel deciding to arm Ukraine are not accurate. The suggestion to arm Ukraine was stated by the minister of diaspora affairs — not by the Israeli leadership. At least for the time being, these reports are not accurate and do not reflect the stance of the Israeli leadership. |

The Great War: Belarus has placed 70,000 soldiers on its border with Ukraine (threatening the Kyiv region first), of which 9,000 are Russian soldiers. Belarus accuses the Kyiv government of "subversion" against it, and of using intelligence measures in its domain. Along with the soldiers there are huge concentrations of military equipment. Do they intend to attack, or split the Ukrainian army, in preparation for the Russian attack? (Guy Bechor) |
