I do not believe that Tinubu's statement was meant to be tribalistic and I say this advisedly. If you look at the context in which he made the statement, it was before his party's primaries.

Now, I believe that there were agreements that Buhari, Tinubu and other major players entered into before forming APC. If one of the agreements was that APC will field Tinubu as it's candidate after Buhari's tenure then it was well within his right to have requested for adherence to that agreement from his party: at least in his shoes, I or any other person would have requested for same.

However the agreement to field Tinubu by APC, even if it was pre-agreed can only be enforced in the party's primaries.

Having emerged as APC's flag-bearer, I am sure that Tinubu cannot use that statement because he had no such pact with Nigerians. He has to now slug it out with other contestants and I am sure he knows that.

In that faithful day in Abeokuta, Tinubu used different words and it wasn't only Emi lokan he used. He furiously used different words aside the one you quoted. He said, awa lokan, Yoruba lokan, mo ti Po awon omo won oti to, emi lokan, yoruba lokan. He angrily used those words interchangeably.
Let me quickly dispel this your notion. Nigerians have over dependent on people that are verse in politics and they've taken us for a ride too long. Developed nation are etching for technocrats to manage their system and not politicians. We give them too much room and they are taken us for granted. We even allow the national assembly to get away with it by playing politics with issues that can save the nation. In advanced system, when election is won, politicians leave behind politic and take up the building of the nation by being patriotic and give selfless service to their nation but the case is reverse in Nigeria. Meaning, we have given them too much space to play politics with our national life and it has not paid off for the country.

On the issue of Atiku. No doubt the presidency should by moral come to the south but Atiku claim is that the last president of PDP comes from the south, which by standard he has a point, since it is not a constitutional issue. It is just unwritten agreement and only PDP has it in their constitution that it should be rotated between south and north. And the last president in their party is from the south but morally speaking since the present president is from the north, he should have just looked at it at that angle and let go.
Meanwhile, let us now go to the south that the agitation favours. If by equity, equality, sincerity and oneness as to strengthen unity, the slot should have gone to south east for equity and justice with fairness because south west had had uninterrupted 8 years as president and over 7 years now as vice president. The south South had had 6 years president and over 2 years as vice president. The only zone remaining is the south east. So fairness demand that some one like Tinubu should have canvassed for a candidate fro the region during presidential primary because it is said that he that comes to equity should come with clean hand. Tinubu doesn't come to equity with clean hand but soiled hand.

But can you change a system from outside?

Judging by precedents, you can't truly change a system from the outside. Which corroborates the fact that Tinubu is the most promising candidate among the ultimate 3.

Do you know that Tinubu is not fighting just for Yorubas?
His fight is for liberating the South from the North.

If you know your history, The West was the most progressive and developed geopolitical zone before the republic.
So Nigeria becoming one was a major sacrifice for Yorubas, (Awolowo was deceived, which is why it's even Yorubas that should be grudging against Igbos.) Trust me politics is dirty.
But some how with the help of the colonists, the North was able to convince the rest of us to join them on the premise and promise that we would become one Nigeria, when their plan was to become the rulers.

Peter Obi cannot give the South or even Nigeria what she needs.
Tinubu is in a better position to achieve that. (Save for his frailty).

So I'll still save my vote for Tinubu rather than PO.

It was not my intention to convince you to change your take on Tinubu and I do not speak for him.

I only explained my understanding of the context in which he made his statement. Beyond that you would have noted that in my concluding paragraph that I said that having won his party's primary the fate of Mr Tinubu becoming the President of Nigeria or not is in the hands of the Nigerian electorates who are free to vote for any candidate of their choice.

So I didn't mean to take you as a novice as you implied.
