He says that it’s “an old dispute between Slavs” and “a family feud.”

Prepare for ww3 then. There have been different hegemonies at different period in world history- Egypt, Assyria, Chaldean, Persia, Greece, Rome, Britain, and now Anglo-American hegemony. Status quo could only be changed through war. Unfortunately for Russia, it doesn't have resources to engage in international war. China has the resources- military, economy and political- to engage US. Unfortunately for China, her economy is declining. Chip war!!

Russia is a nuclear-armed nation. There is need to prevent unnecessary escalation. Western leaders are not stupid. West could sanctioned Russia since 2014. Economic warfare is better than military intervention.
