The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Gombe State University chapter, has said it will withhold the examination results of students and will discontinue the supervision of undergraduates and postgraduates projects should the government fail to release the withheld salaries for members of the union for the period while they were on strike.

The union made this known in a statement made available to our correspondent on Thursday.

The statement, which was signed by the branch chairman, Suleiman Jauro, partly read, “The Congress of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Gombe State University branch, at its meeting held today, Wednesday 2nd November 2022, received the report of the engagements between the branch’s leadership and the University administration over the release of the withheld salaries.

“After exhaustive deliberations, the Congress therefore, resolved that given the University administration’s refusal to release the August and September salaries, members shall not submit the results of the first Semester examination for the 2021/2022 session; Not continue with the supervision of both undergraduate and postgraduate projects allocated prior to the commencement of the strike action.”

Wahala for the student who do 50-50, 60-40, for exam.
In the other thread someone was congratulating the federal government for withholding half of ASUU salary. He is yet to realize that when 2 elephants fight the grass suffers. His comment is like one who has not gotten admission to government university or schools in private one.

There is nothing students of public universities in Nigeria will not suffer. The students are always at the receiving end of every conflict. When there is a settlement between the government and Assu the students will now be rushed without any consideration. I pity the Nigerian students

This is what all lecturers will do. Government, especially ngige is playing with eduction in this country. Waging petty wars with those that shapes the eduction of this country. Worst government ever.

This administration is the worst and insensitive, at the end it’s the students that will still suffer it the most. Ngige just want to flex muscles to show ASUU who is the boss instead of serving the nation, what a shame

Now this is pure wickedness from the part of Fg.. Knowing fully well that they finally resumed regardless of the time in the month, the fg should have just paid them full october salary at least after over 6 months of no salary.. Lets remove the fact that the govt is trying to proof a point, how about the fact that this lecturers have families and how they have been surviving during the strike period.. The fg can do better please .. they just want to cripple the education sector completely because if ASUU goes on strike this time, they have a very valid reason to stay away for as long as the fg bends to their terms this time around .. Now we can all see why we need PO as the incoming president..
