Mbaise Junction
Nice one there. We must start planting trees. Imagine how that junction would look with trees and sides tea spots. I think our leaders are not imaginative.

If anywhere will get there in due time it's Owerri.

Purely untrue, Brazil is more of a rainforest region than Nigeria. Yet u won't find the poor roads we don here and there.
That was exactly what I was saying, our people have accepted mediocrity as a way of life.

I’ve come to realise that, even with all the exposure and travelling to saner climes, our present crop of leaders (and i mean governors, their appointees and top civil servants) are just too local…..i’m sorry!

The jury is still out on Soludo as it would be a bit unfair to judge him now considering they’re yet to complete any of the newly awarded road contracts in his state. However, i’m less forgiving of other present and immediate past governors in south-east states ….with the slight exemption of Sullivan Chime. I mean….even with all the commendable jobs we see the likes of Umahi, Obiano, Ugwuanyi (only Nsukka and the newly reconstructed Agbani Rd, Enugu), Ikpeazu (though he tried small with greenery in parts of Aba) and Uzodinma (newly reconstructed roads in Owerri and other state highways which look more durable and better aesthetically than the infamous Rochas ‘China’ roads)……upon all these modest positives, you’re still left to wonder why none of them seem to care much about the need for greenery in their major cities: ie, tree-lined streets swept clean of sand/sediments/rubbish; cleared gutters; well manicured carpet grass on either side of major roads…instead of the unsightly bare, muddy earth we normally see; well marked roads; WORKING street/traffic lights; well organised commercial/transport activities; etc!

I wouldn’t be surprised if northern cities like Sokoto and Kaduna have more trees than cities in the supposed rainforest belt like Owerri, Aba and Onitsha! Umahi, as brilliant as he is with delivering on big-ticket projects, seems to be the worst culprit in this regard….though i noticed he seems to have improved a bit with the new airport his admin’ is building!

100% agrees. Owerri is doing well. Also I love the synergy it has with the FG.

I want the Igbos to try to reduce the apprehension they have towards FG no matter who is in power. It is time we use diplomacy

I noticed he is now planting trees and installing CCTV cameras in Abakiliki. I pray others take a cue.

For Souludo, he has mentioned that he will do massive tree planting. I pray he stays true to it.

Abia's Ikpeazu and ENugu are the worst culprit. THey have not been very zealous in this regard. THough Ikpeazu starte it initially in 2015, but u know ABa na, some peple just step on it and klll it and u know as government does things, they don't follow up.

ENugu is the worst. Sullivan left a flourishing Nursery in ENugu, but the current governor is yet to plant as much trees and flowers as sullivn had done, rather they are withering away for lack of care, the anoying part is that this is happening in ENugu metropolis

I think one of the best gift Rochas gave Owerri is New Owerri.

By the way who has an idea about this ongoing scrapper of sorts?

What is it and who is building it? I'm very curious. It seems Owerri will give AlaIgbo it's the first scrapper in the city.

Also pelase whoever is close to Hope should advise him to repaint the monuments (gates, pillars, etc.) around New Owerri axis. THe roads too. THey are becoming a eyesore

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by NwekereNdoki: 4:34am On Nov 05, 2022
I just watched a video a vlogger did about traveling from Enugu to Ebonyi.
I was jaw-dropped to see that from the boundary of Ebonyi to Abakiliki, the roads within Ebonyi were all in perfect condition, the one that does not too smooth were being worked on and the ones that are narrow are expanded.

I was elated that one state in SE is gettting it right. Now this is what we are talking about. My prayer is for Abia, Anambra, Enugu and Imo to take a cue. SE governors should put 80% energy into reconstructing roads in SE expecially economic roads that conects SE/SS and the rest of Nigeria.

We just need good roads, the people can do the rest.

THis is why I get irritated when I see Igbos join others to castigate Umahi. SInce 1999, no governor, I repeat, No Governor comes close to Dave Umahi.

I have high hopes for Soludo, I am sure he will deliver.

There's no obsession about imo state. We are saying that imo state has remained a backward useless since since 1999. Imo state belongs to all of us because I am from mbaise. We must elect a sane person to rule our state for once if not Abia will continue to be our closest competitor in terms of poor governance
Spot on.

I agree with you, don't mind those critics, they came from haters that enjoy seeing ebonyians as third class Igbos and ipob touts...

Looking at the picture of the drainage it is of quality work but I ask, why are they still constructing open drainage? In honesty, our people have not really understood the importance of a clean environment they will clog the drainage with all manner of rubbish, and rain season floods will destroy the road, Is it not penny wise pound foolish? I really understand that underground drainage is costly but slab-covered drains are good enough.
the reason is easy clean up if u cover it how can u clean when sand and others blocked it

New Owerri has been there before Rochas.
I would like us to stop using paint and cement for everything. Once somebody fails to repaint them it looks bad, plus why should something by repainted again and again.

To be frank, I live in the US and Nigerians don't know how to paint on cement surfaces. That's why they have to keep repainting. So I which we can start using other materials especially for public art.

Totally agree. Like granites and steel. THe problem is just the cost though. But it is possible[/quote]

Easy cleanup, that was why I said Slab covered, but there are all types of equipment in the market for cleaning drainage, these things are not rocket science. The below picture is one.

At this point is cement still considered cost effective? Even wood is ok. Clay, etc.
Japanese build whole neighborhoods using paper lol. Not saying we have to go that far, but the art of treating and painting cement doesn't exist at home.

Many of our masons don't know that you have you buff cement with a buffer so that it doesn't have holes. Those little holes you see in cement with suck up the moisture of any paint you give it, and the paint will begin to peel. We think it's climate. I thought so too, but I consulted a cement worker in the US and he told me that you have you use a buffer and buff any cement surface. After burning you apply an adhesive polymer, THEN you paint over it. It's not just to wait for the cement to dry then paint on top of it. That's like painting on top of sand.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtCO1jgRBfA

I'm sure there are cement workers who do this at home, I'm not doubt it and I have been gone for a while, but it's not something I remember seeing.
