Why should going to the UK be Cheap or expensive i dont get, dont we want our own villages and states of origin to be developed and have the good experiences abroad, why does it have to be a special experience and or something to feel special about or brag about.

We seem foolish (forgive me for swearing), you see Chinese, Indians, and other people, learn good things abroad and take it back to their country, to improve the lives of their people, and for the traveling abroad is not something to brag about, its an opportunity to learn what is good and replicate in their countries, this bragging about travelling is irrelevant.

While for Nigerians, they travel to feel they are better than others, or they have travelled to some special place and many people cannot know that place.

With the way the UK is fast becoming the 37th state in Nigeria, I knew it was only a matter of time before Nigerians in the UK divided themselves into classes. Old UK and New UK. I came to the UK when UK was UK.

But you are right about the clothes o, thinking of it now. There are way too many UK shoppers on IG and they sell at affordable rates. Even home appliances that we only saw in movies are now everywhere - na your money kill am. Coffee makers, garment steamers, vacuum cleaners, British bread, biscuits…etc.

Anyway, I am very pro-japa, but japa with sense and some self-esteem. I do not believe any country that has much to give you, would let you into her country easily in such numbers. It was not available ANYWHERE. And the baby died. This is a product we used to throw away like water at my USA workplace because it has an 8 hour shelf life. The standing procedure is to have it available at all times just in case of a neonatal crisis. But in Nigeria it was NOWHERE to be found. The doctor cried and I cried too. It's not that babies don't die in the USA or UK, it's that they don't die cheaply. By the way, the son of a serving Federal Minister also died of the same thing some years ago, he had a crisis and needed a blood product that wasn't available in Nigeria. He died in an air ambulance on the way to the UK. Unfortunately I can't put their grief out here in public, but it's a lesson on how precarious life has become that someone so highly placed can't even save themselves. So much for living the good life in Nigeria.

Simply put, your chances of staying alive are higher in the West, period.



Yes there are people earning millions of dollars in Nigeria, I know a few field engineers in the oil & gas industry or top bankers or people working remotely for big IT companies. Yes, they are there but the more important point is that the numbers of such people in Nigeria are so few as to be negligible. They're a statistically insignificant number and their situation is getting more precarious with each passing year.

I know TWO highly placed families in Nigeria where both parents and ADULT CHILDREN and spouses and grandchildren have moved from Nigeria into the town where I live. These are people who live in Banana Island, Ikoyi, Maitama, who work at major oil & gas companies, banks and are in politics. They pulled up EVERYTHING and abandoned Nigeria. I don't live in a major city so imagine the number that are migrating to London, New York or Houston. The last push for one of them was being REPEATEDLY robbed in Abuja after fleeing the same problem in Lagos years before. The woman told me this personally.

These are people who know what is going on in Nigeria and they're leaving! It's not always about MONEY, it's also about quality of life and peace of mind. The elites of Nigeria - the perm secs, federal directors, academic elites, business moguls, top politicians - are a disgrace to the Black Race. I like the way things are going now, many of them are being forced to flee the results of their own idiocy, now in the West they have to rub shoulders with their victims on an equal basis. And everything I see tells me it's going to get worse.



What is the deception? It's telling that ORDINARY LOWER MIDDLE CLASS life depicted on Facebook is viewed as exaggerated luxury by Nigerians. I know many Nigerians who have been working low wage jobs for over 25 years and they all own homes in good neighborhoods and MULTIPLE cars and their kids are university graduates working good jobs. Most if not all of them have scrimped and saved to build homes in Nigeria too.
However much they spend in UK it's still enough to send plenty of money to their relatives in Nigeria.

This very topic is what brought me to Nairaland. I was SHOCKED to read people mocking the standard of living in the Anglo countries. I came to the USA with zero money, my plane ticket was bought with borrowed money. I started life working illegally in a restaurant. I know for a fact that even back then, working in that restaurant, I was better off than 99% of people in Nigeria. Summary - if I can live a good life in the West, most people can achieve it too.

I'm in the Nigerian community, I hear of people moving to UK all the time, I see people coming into my community every week, every month both illegally and legally, married with children and single, rich and poor. Even when they're starting from scratch, within a year or two they have fully paid off used car they couldn't dream of having in Nigeria, they live in apartments - maybe with a single roommate - with running water, flush toilet and 24 hour electricity. Breathing fresh air with no dust and generator fumes. They can walk the street with confidence, no police checkpoints, they can drive for hours on the highway with no fear of being waylaid by armed robbers or kidnapped. Those are things that are not guaranteed even in Lekki Phase Zero or VGC.

A Professor, a scion of one of the most prominent families in my ancestral village, was kidnapped right in front of his house in Nigeria. The kidnappers collected their 40million and still killed him.

Good thing too Nigerians going to the West now are learning to do manual work like landscaping, computer wiring/network setups, auto mechanics and mobile car wash, cooking food and selling from their homes, sewing clothes & shoe repair, so having papers is not even as much a problem as before. Honestly I wish I had such skills when I arrived here, life would have been a lot easier. There's a woman who sells Nigerian food that we patronize often, we buy like one week worth of food at a time. When you go to pick up at her home you can see they're VERY BUSY. There's one or two more people that have opened walk up - carry out restaurants. They cater parties too. A Nigerian mobile car washer cleaned my car last week, he came to the office and did it. Who needs Green Card to do that?

Nigeria today is not a good place to live for the VAST MAJORITY and it must be a terrible burden to even be rich in the midst of such misery. Hopefully it will get better but all this fakery about life in Nigeria must stop. Y'all know you're not real.

I like the bolded bits of your post and the part about platelet....see the problem in Nigeria is that no one takes their job seriously and those that don't aren't fired....whoever is responsible for making the platelet available hv at the back of their mind that they can always say "I'm sorry sir" or "we are very sorry sir" and get away with their negligence....recently I saw a hospital receptionist sleeping on duty and such a person was excused by management. What about Rico the big brother housemate, it was the same needless death and even the management will be trying to cover up and save face.... so the problem is lack of seriousness, accountability and failure of management to fire staff and only being concerned about money.

You are right. but its not so much about not speaking in native dialect its more about the youth seeing their native dialects as archaic and british accent as posh, refined and civilized - many african minds have been colonized....

The UK as well as Belgium (and to some extent France) are the countries I went to and felt sorry for them, like seriously. I will get angry if I see more white/Asian/Arab faces in Nigeria than black faces. For example in Antwerp, there are more Arab-looking people than white Belgians. Brussels and Liege are mixed of people from everywhere, especially Africans and middle-eastern. Belgium is really small and densely populated with 12M people (Niger state is bigger than Belgium at least twice), so the demographic changes are very visible.

Also with the UK. The foreign faces in major cities are so much, and many of these immigrants don't speak English, and perhaps, looks like they won't integrate. I ordered food with uber eats twice in London, and the guys that brought my food with a bike don't speak English. I feel like the UK has committed social suicide. With the way immigration is going, whites will be a minority within the century if caution is not taken.

And the UK doesn't have land, which makes it worse. It is too small of a place, from the roads to the houses, and parks. A little wonder they annexed Northern Ireland, and don't want to return it lol.

what do you expect when the PM is Indian , the western world where so foolish to allow foreigners over shadow them all in the name of tolerance. they colonized the rest of the word with force but the rest of the world colonized them systematically

Why should going to the UK be Cheap or expensive i dont get, dont we want our own villages and states of origin to be developed and have the good experiences abroad, why does it have to be a special experience and or something to feel special about or brag about.

So Why cant food be cheap in own village and states, why can't people live a happy life in your country also, and have wonderful experiences in our own states or villages.


We seem foolish (forgive me for swearing), you see Chinese, Indians, and other people, learn good things abroad and take it back to their country, to improve the lives of their people, and for the traveling abroad is not something to brag about, its an opportunity to learn what is good and replicate in their countries, this bragging about travelling is irrelevant.

While for Nigerians, they travel to feel they are better than others, or they have travelled to some special place and many people cannot know that place.

Why should you say, because we can see the photos its not special, dont you know its an opportunity to learn their architecture and replicate, nawa for black man oo, especially Nigerians.

For me in my spare time, i usually study their architecture and designs, its really a good thing we can see their streets and see how they live.

Yes they had good life, so why can't we study their good life and replicate, why should it be something to travel for.

You call someone that spent 20 million naira to travel out a poor person simply because he feels he is doing what is best for him and his loved ones?

I am always indifferent about japa or no japa.

But that phrankleen guy in the video made a point some won't notice though some might think one is just being too spiritual or something but there are people who are to be at a particular location per time, he is an Ifa person and I am a Christain but have people taken out time to find out where they are meant to be.

If you are meant to be abroad and you are in Nigeria or vice versa you might not get to the peak of your potentials, you might even be comfortable where you are but our specific location matters a lot.

A lot of people are just doing follow follow, others are going let me go too that's all. No plan nothing.

No enquiry, not deep personal physical research about where they are going then even spiritual research as to whether a place will favor them, even the Christians sef some don't even seek God's face before taking such decisions.

Exactly, anyone can watch utube videos, and see their architecture, the beauty of their lands and try to design and even create such places in Nigeria, if they want to, there are no excuses.

While some Nigerians want to show off, and talk about where they went to , so they can feel they are better or more special or have higher class lol, instead of doing something like that in their country, so everyone can experience it and choose better.
