Shma2022:As usual... Here you go again with a dumb submission.... You think Sheffield Hallam University is stupid to run a separate Robotics course from Mechatronics and a separate electronics course from Mechatronics? You guys don't take your time to simply process information and move ahead to make stupid comments. So because we all did the 7 years medical program, you think you can become a cardiologist with the 7 years education and housemanship |

rvp20182:don't use maybe ... There's a fact here, you and I went on this ..... Kenya had only 48 or so students admitted to ivy league schools last year and Ghana had 80 or so but that is not the discussion. Good you said in your estimation which we usually know to be shit. The fact is that Ghana send more brilliant students to top universities in the US than Kenyans and the US embassy can confirm that for you. While Kenya sends less than 200 students to the US, Ghana sends 4,229 students and this year, it has gotten to 5,000. Sleep, these are not assumptions but facts as documented |

rvp20182:And yes we have one of the best university in africa ( Top 4, the best in west africa and Fourth in africa just behind south africa and egypt) that is indeed a prestige for a population halve your country . When it comes university education , you are behind us ( kenya ) despite that fact , we still attend the ivy league university ( my president is a product of Oxford though not ivy but the best in the world . Rice university is not an ivy league school either but it is a standard on its own, don't be carried away by ivy league ( it is a just name for sport standard)and so it's many university in Germany with great standard. |

gallivant:.No Ghanaian with his brain in check will choose kenya university over a Ghanaian one , it is rather the opposite . I have meet many kenya students here . Some are so poor academically , they only meet private university standard admission. Another interesting fact, Ghana is the next country behind south africa that america student prefer in sub saharan africa. There are more America student here than any country bar SA In sub saharan africa. Ghana is an educational tourism country . We enjoy a lot of dollars annually on it. I will throw my cash to a not known accredited america uni to the best most popular kenya unis |

Just40:We also study fluid dynamics in structural and civil engineering not as as a separate course but as a sub-unit within the course .... however you can specialize and do research in fluid dynamics at higher levels .like I said most of these units are interdisciplinary....once you specialize at a specific area at master's or PHD level then you can be a specialist in that field. |

One random ranking doesnt make your run of the mill university high ranking. Consistent ranking by many indexes doesnt include any Ghanian university in Africa top 10. Maybe in West Africa - sometimes Nigeria's Ibadan features - otherwise the least as always about 5 from South Africa ( Capetown or Witwatersrand or Pretoria or Stellenboch or KwaZulu Natal all compete for top 1-5 ),Cairo University, University of Nairobi, Makerere University of Uganda and sometimes you can throw in Ibandan or more South Africa universities. Those are consistently top 10 africa univerisity accross many parameters. Ghana and university. The only people interested in Ghana are former SLAVES in america continent coming to trace their roots. vaxx: |

African America always try to go to Ghana to re-connect - get dissappointed - and never comeback. There are many Ghanians who come to Kenya universities. Most of them come to USIU - because it's US recognised university and hope to transfer to San Diego. We know Ghanians and Nigerian cant hack without emigrating abroad. As for black american coming to trace their roots - I dont think that is hardly something to be proud of. They have no where else to see such huge slaves dungeon. vaxx: |

Just40:learning the language is very important if she is willing to graduate with urkunde . That sets standard and make her more international. Though she might enrol into english thought program, I still advice she learn the language. She can't just escaped it . She will still do german language regarding any feild as course on its own. Though very little . It isn't that hard , it is just a matter of time and seriousness. I learnt women are more prone to hear new language than men |

rvp20182:that is your bullshit , many african america have settle up finally. They have even gotten a citizenship here, set up a business center and call here their home . The fact is , Ghana has a lot to offer. Be it security wise or social issues , it is covered and settled. And it isn't just about black american, it includes the white as well. If you see a Ghanaian schooling in kenya ,it is because the school has something to do with a parent university In Europe or america . That is it. Schooling abroad ( europe and america is our thing ) we love it. we even set standard with it .I am sorry many turkana can't afford it . |

Okay this crazy. Nigerian - watching this spaniard move from Benin Contonou to Lagos. There are police stationed every 200 meters. The man has passed 20 police/security checks in less than 2kms. Almost all the cars on the road WOULD NOT be allowed to be driven in Kenya roads. They are totally road unworthy. Very very old. The road has now totally disappeared - completely broken down. Most "impressive" thing he says petrol is 6 euro - while previous it was 26 euros in other countries - it cheaper than water. But surely with those very old cars it almost waste of fuel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajof5EdATQU |

In Ghana. In kenya a student choose where to attend - and he get publicly funded. As long as you score qualify for university - you can select private or public - and you get the capitation per course. Also private or public - you apply for student higher education loans - and use it for your living expenses vaxx:

rvp20182:public university attract best of brains hence the choice of many students and student pay very little as almost every utilities are subsides, therefore creating stiffed admission process . People only choose private university when all option to get into public university have elapsed and are very thirsty of higher education . ( Some private School like ashesi, valley view and central private uni ) are somehow different from this as they attract best student also. But nearly all the major private university college are set up to admit poor academically deprived student who are yarning for university education. And mind you, there is cut of point for university placement ,no school will admit you( even private ) if you have more than 40 percent aggregate. That is GTEC requirements . |

Really no hard rules at least in kenya. Most universities have their unique strength. If you want to be a teacher - or doctor - etc - you pick. All kenya students pick their university and vocational course...you pick top 4...course/university...online...and the computer system will finally award you. Those are one that qualify for gov funding. But you can walk to private or public university any day. In kenya public university have private students - mean those who walk in - and want to finance their course 100 percent - and decide how fast they want to finish - like taking three semsters a year - or doing weekend or any arrangment. Gov sponsored are restricted to regular day program of generally two semsters. There is really no difference btw public and private in kenya anymore. Private have gov funded students. Public have private students. Gov you wait for joint admission - six months after graduating high school is when you can join university and have to apply through central placement board. Privately funded is anytime anyday...public or private university. All can apply for student loans - as long as you qualify for them - and you'll repay at 4% interest after graduation. What is missing in kenya is National Open university like Nigeria has - and this Ruto will fix as top priority. I think there is a Nairobi based African virtual university - but certainly nothing like South Africa UNISA or Nigeria Open University - that can admit thousands at comfort of their computers. vaxx: |

rvp20182:it depends on your choice and feild of study as well, because some university are funded purposely for that . There are teacher training university, business university , science orientated university and that of politics and law . Even of recent we have gotten university for mining ( umat) petroleum and medical only university . Despite all this , some university runs all the program . So it depends on your choice . Here , university forms are purchase and you go online and filled , you submit and wait till the selection process happens , you can as well get more than 10 university forms and apply to all of them at random , it depends on how much you are willing to spend or the strength of your chances . So a student might get admitted into more than five university if he or she applied for them at once and you choose your choice or take different course if capable . |

That sounds like American systems. Kenya systems. In primary school - you pick 4 schools you want as high school - rank them 1st choice - till the 4th. Computer assign it to you based on performance, region, affarmative actions etc. Everyone want the best high school but position are limited. After high school - you also pick 4 universities and courses - from your 1st choice to your 4th choice - normally you should get the 4th. Computer picks and assign again based on performance - if you pick Medicine - and didnt score like all As - you're wasting time - computer will assign you the final choice - maybe BA in some forest university. The same for al course/vocational training/ name This system was done in 1990s - for primary and later for university - by our school of computer science. This has eliminated Corruption and Favoritism. Kenya every kid has the same chance. Those rich can go to private secondary - and pay. Unfortunately the best high schools in kenya are public - national schools - so rich folks have to wait for those that dont report - and buy slots from headmaster - maybe 1-5 slots. There are handful private secondary schools that are good. Most parent - almost majority take their kids to private primary - so they can get chance to go to select public high schools that are competitive as hell. You will find very tiny kids in kenya walking to school before dawn and sleeping late. It very brutal - because the best high school are limited and pretty much determined your future At university level - the rich can go to either public or pay - and pay. Fortunately if you have money you can do any course in any university in kenya. Now https://kuccps.net/ - is for all universities and vocational training - it's open once a year few months after high school exams are out - and only for those who graduated. The courses are weighted based on the university - so you know before hand that going to University of Nairobi for medicine - you need As completely. vaxx: |

rvp20182:in Ghana student loan are interest free and it comes with no guarantor apart from your Ghana identity card . So no stress at all when applying for one any day. And for the open university kind of things , we have allowed private university to fixed it . We have laweh open university. Probably , public schools might be set up directly for it soon. But I think it should be open for private institution only. As it is now. |
| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by vaxx: 11:36pm On Nov 23, 2022 |
rvp20182:now Ghana has fully made the primary and secondary admission process computer based . Yours is to select your region and apply for schools in there. Computer randomly select you based on performance and available school. So you might not exactly get your choice school if your aggregate mark is lower compare to what the school choose. Popular school are likely to have higher point . |
