IVY league admission is something worthwhile tracking. Last I checked China was leading with 8,000, India 3,000 - maybe Kenya is close to 300.

And yes we have one of the best university in africa ( Top 4, the best in west africa and Fourth in africa just behind south africa and egypt) that is indeed a prestige for a population halve your country . When it comes university education , you are behind us ( kenya ) despite that fact , we still attend the ivy league university ( my president is a product of Oxford though not ivy but the best in the world .

Rice university is not an ivy league school either but it is a standard on its own, don't be carried away by ivy league ( it is a just name for sport standard)and so it's many university in Germany with great standard.

.No Ghanaian with his brain in check will choose kenya university over a Ghanaian one , it is rather the opposite . I have meet many kenya students here . Some are so poor academically , they only meet private university standard admission.

Another interesting fact, Ghana is the next country behind south africa that america student prefer in sub saharan africa. There are more America student here than any country bar SA In sub saharan africa. Ghana is an educational tourism country . We enjoy a lot of dollars annually on it. One random ranking doesnt make your run of the mill university high ranking. Consistent ranking by many indexes doesnt include any Ghanian university in Africa top 10.

Maybe in West Africa - sometimes Nigeria's Ibadan features - otherwise the least as always about 5 from South Africa ( Capetown or Witwatersrand or Pretoria or Stellenboch or KwaZulu Natal all compete for top 1-5 ),Cairo University, University of Nairobi, Makerere University of Uganda and sometimes you can throw in Ibandan or more South Africa universities. Those are consistently top 10 africa univerisity accross many parameters.

She's looking for English taught, else she will have to spend an extra year in Germany just to learn the language or even 2 years because it's a hard language to learn, before her program.

learning the language is very important if she is willing to graduate with urkunde . That sets standard and make her more international. Though she might enrol into english thought program, I still advice she learn the language. She can't just escaped it . She will still do german language regarding any feild as course on its own. Though very little .

It isn't that hard , it is just a matter of time and seriousness. I learnt women are more prone to hear new language than men

that is your bullshit , many african america have settle up finally. They have even gotten a citizenship here, set up a business center and call here their home . The fact is , Ghana has a lot to offer. Be it security wise or social issues , it is covered and settled. And it isn't just about black american, it includes the white as well.

Almost all the cars on the road WOULD NOT be allowed to be driven in Kenya roads. They are totally road unworthy. Very very old.

Private institution has less funding compare to public one .

In Ghana. In kenya a student choose where to attend - and he get publicly funded. As long as you score qualify for university - you can select private or public - and you get the capitation per course.
Also private or public - you apply for student higher education loans - and use it for your living expenses

People only choose private university when all option to get into public university have elapsed and are very thirsty of higher education . ( Some private School like ashesi, valley view and central private uni ) are somehow different from this as they attract best student also. But nearly all the major private university college are set up to admit poor academically deprived student who are yarning for university education. And mind you, there is cut of point for university placement ,no school will admit you( even private ) if you have more than 40 percent aggregate. That is GTEC requirements .

Really no hard rules at least in kenya. Most universities have their unique strength. If you want to be a teacher - or doctor - etc - you pick. All kenya students pick their university and vocational course...you pick top 4...course/university...online...and the computer system will finally award you. Those are one that qualify for gov funding. But you can walk to private or public university any day.

In kenya public university have private students - mean those who walk in - and want to finance their course 100 percent - and decide how fast they want to finish - like taking three semsters a year - or doing weekend or any arrangment. Gov sponsored are restricted to regular day program of generally two semsters.

There is really no difference btw public and private in kenya anymore. Private have gov funded students. Public have private students. Gov you wait for joint admission - six months after graduating high school is when you can join university and have to apply through central placement board. Privately funded is anytime anyday...public or private university.

All can apply for student loans - as long as you qualify for them - and you'll repay at 4% interest after graduation.

What is missing in kenya is National Open university like Nigeria has - and this Ruto will fix as top priority. There are teacher training university, business university , science orientated university and that of politics and law . Even of recent we have gotten university for mining ( umat) petroleum and medical only university . Despite all this , some university runs all the program . So it depends on your choice .

in Ghana student loan are interest free and it comes with no guarantor apart from your Ghana identity card . So no stress at all when applying for one any day. And for the open university kind of things , we have allowed private university to fixed it . We have laweh open university. Probably , public schools might be set up directly for it soon. But I think it should be open for private institution only. As it is now.

now Ghana has fully made the primary and secondary admission process computer based . Yours is to select your region and apply for schools in there. Computer randomly select you based on performance and available school. So you might not exactly get your choice school if your aggregate mark is lower compare to what the school choose. Popular school are likely to have higher point .
