I think Football is the only topic where so many fans are just so confidently misinformed. They think they know but in reality, they have almost zero practical knowledge about tactics. Give them a 5 aside team to coach and nothing will come out. I see folks offline & online; nairaland, FB, Twitter etc talking about tactics like cutting passing lanes, forming traingles, creating numerical advantage, positioning, high line etc.

They question everything the coach does from formation to personnel simply because they think they know it all. For instance, when Pedri arrived, most Barca fans wanted him for the B team or loan but they preferred Puig to start playing for the first team immediately. Koeman saw things differently. Same thing happened with Gavi. Today he's justified. Koeman was a bad coach though.

The same also happened when Ronaldo left United for Madrid and was replaced by Antonio Valencia. Even though they still had Nani, the fans rightly complained and demanded a top player as Ronaldo's replacement. With two PL titles, UCL final and many other trophies including being named player of the season at United, Fergie was indeed justified. There are also many instances not mentioned here....

Henry was busy talking down on Wenger until he was given an opportunity at Monaco. He was sacked because relegation was looming. Thiago Motta was running his mouth about one useless 2-7-2 formation with the GK playing almost as a DM. We all know how he ended at Genoa. Then there's Gary Neville and many others. Motta is now playing with "much caution" now at Bologna and unsurprisingly is doing better.

It's always funny because for most of these people, their only football(coaching) experience is FM(SEGA), FIFA and some other football simulation games with zero practical knowledge. Most never played/coach at semi professional level. It's funny but I think it's all part of the beautiful game.

I'm not saying that coaches should not be criticized, all I'm saying is; give credit where credit is due.

This was my response to a guy who at halftime called Tite daft because Richalison is not a regular starter at Totenham but starting games for Brazil.
