How Safe Is Onitsha Market As A First Timer? by Pickmycall(op): 4:20am On Nov 25, 2022
I will be visiting onitsha market for the first time to buy a solar powered and rechargeable fan as been adviced by an electronic dealer.I just moved to a village in delta state from lagos and there is no electricity supply, couple with the heat during the day and night.Phone charging business is lucrative here.I have heard and read how people were scammed by traders and touts in onitsha.I heard that they are brutal.I dont want to loose guard.I have been able to tame scammers at alaba intl market, computer village, and ladipo market all in lagos, but i dont know if onitsha is different.I heard onitsha traders are even the scammers. How can i tame them? Thanks in advance. Cc dragnet.

It's not safe for a first timer ooo
There are a lot of sharks on those waters so be very careful who you talk to and the vehicles you enter too. If you have anything of real value to you don't take it with you because you could get robber on the street by a pick pocket very easily as a first timer and when buying goods make sure you are getting what you pay for and don't let it be swapped for something of inferior quality.
Shine your eyes properly.
Lastly don't go there looking like a wealthy person and try not to speak with good English, rather use pidgin or Igbo if you know the language

There is nothing different about the market that is different from Alaba and Ladipo. The principle is the same, which is; shine your eyes and be wise!!!
