It's easier to exploit peoples emotional highs, for instance some people get scammed because of their fears, some others are scammed because of romantic feelings. Emotion bypasses reason a lot of the time, it takes quite a bit of self control to reign in your emotions and take a second closer look at something.

Same thing happens in your churches where the gullible sit each week listening to lies fed them by men who claim to be more connected to God than their gullible followers are. Churchians are equally as gullible as the many girls who you claim to fall in love with swindlers ---- you would almost think it a human condition.
