rvp2018:So how did we win 6 medals in boxing at the Olympics, 3 silver and 3 bronze? You have 1 gold(fluke), 1 silver and 5 bronze medals. You see we are at par with you in amateur boxing, Even though we can't organize cock fights(shouldn't you be ashamed of yourself?) In professional boxing? Don't let us go there. You are not even a bleep on the radar. You need to learn from Nigeria and see how your amateur boxers can get into the big international scene. Build the international appeal into it and support your athletes. |

There is nothing kenya can learn from Nigeria in any sphere of life; that we already concluded. We had very good boxing in 1980s and 1990s - that was unmatched in Africa - we dropped the ball - and we know what we need to do. obaaderemi: |

Today the mention of the Kenya boxing team does not capture the imagination of anyone. Whenever the Kenyan boxing team participates in any tournament, be it the All African games or the commonwealth games, one can expect perhaps a bronze medal or two if Kenya is lucky. There was a time however when the mention of the Kenya boxing team would send shivers down the spines of other countries and sheer raptures to Kenyan boxing fans and in fact Kenyans in general. The Kenyan boxing team, aka the hit squad was a source of pride. No moment captured this glorious era more than the 4th All African games of 1987. Keep in mind that in those days, the All Africa games was a premier event to which the entire continent of Africa paid attention. And when Kenya hosted this event in 1987, the entire country was engrossed. Kenya sent 8 boxers into the boxing finals held at the Kenyatta international conference centre. That day the hit squad put on an exhilarating performance of power punching, quick feet, stylish moves and accurate punching that overwhelmed all the opponents. All 8 memebers of the hits squad. won their matches thus netting 8 gold medals as the partisan local crowd went into a near delirium. Even cabinet minister, Robert Ouko, who was in attendance could not hold back his exhilaration as he leaped up and down the dais each time a Kenyan won. Kenya’s gold medalists on that occasion were: Light Welterweight David “DK” Kamau Towedros Michiku of Ethiopia Bantamweight Stephen Mwema, who beat Ndaba Dube of Zimbabwe Featherweight Patrick “Mont” Waweru who beat Charles Lubulwa of Uganda Lightweight John Wanjau, who beat Haritora Rapotamanga of Madagscar Light Flyweight Maurice Maina, who beat Emmanuel Nsubuga of Uganda Mohammed “Body” Orungi, who beat Martin Nougle of Nigeria Welterweight Robert Wangila, who beat Sahelu Mekuria of Ethiopia Superheavyweight Chris Odera who beat Tschibalala Kadima of Zaire. |

You have severely limited vocabulary of invectives. You cannot excel in any sport if you don't build the pipeline from school competition to amateur to professional. You'll be left desperate like Ghana talking about one boxer - like it matters. vaxx: |

First of all seeing some of those trucks - in kenya - unless you're driving in the dead of the night - kenya is indeed far ahead. We cannot have such beaten road unworthy cars in any corner of kenya. How will they survive? There is no where police are not in kenya and not effective. Heck now kenya has disallowed import of any used truck - even if it's 5yr old - now it's brand new trucks and buses. Every truck, pickup and lorry in kenya MUST have ANNUAL road inspection of worthiness. The police have USSD application - they see your truck - they just send number plate - and they know if you've been inspected or not. And everywhere - there are weight bridges - some temporary - you cannot exceed weight limits and damage the road. [quote author=popizaino post=118800444 What's your reason?[/quote] |

rvp20182:and yet with your ameturish explore, you couldn't give africa a single professional boxers ? How dumb is that? Ghana has given the world more than three professional boxers. This people individual boxing career are bigger than entire east africa boxing population. When you check the common wealth boxing competition which is arguably the most common event for professional boxers , we leads . Out Of the 57 medals won by Ghana in 16 previous appearances, boxing alone accounts for 32. Just check your brain and see if you can compare . |

It goes without saying that amateur boxers graduate to professional boxers. The only difference really is they drop the head gear - there is nothing more to it - except receiving punches on the bare head - and risking injury. Everything else is the same. vaxx: |

Some of the jalopies being driven in west africa you can only see in Drc Congo. Every year in Kenya you must take your commercial car to be inspected unless it's a personal car. For any car to be allowed to operate in the country, it must have an inspection sticker issued by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA). The sticker confirms that a car is fit to operate in the country without endangering the lives of other road users. Inspection is done in collaboration with the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and supervised by the government through the National Police Service (NPS). During the exercise, car owners are expected to present their automobiles to inspection centres set by the government To ascertain if a car is fit to operate in the country, the government confirms the automobile's date of manufacture, steering wheel, condition of tyres, electrical wiring and equipment and lighting system. Under electrical and wiring, the car's battery is checked, and so are warning lights, headlights, rear lamps, direction indicators and hazard lamps. During the exercise, the braking system and components are also checked to confirm if a car is fit to operate on Kenyan roads. Suspension, windscreen glass, seat belts and general condition of the vehicle structure are also inspected during the exercise. "Defects to be checked for condition of the body shall be body panelling and guard rail, PSV flap type doors and PSV luggage compartments," KEBS stated in their inspection checklist. "Defects to be checked for doors shall be missing door, hinges, stiff doors and worn out door hinges," the checklist further adds. However, the conditions vary depending on the car, such as Public Service Vehicles (PSV) and personal cars. |

gallivant:no single professional boxers ever exist from east africa ( how much of kenya ) I am not interested in educating a poor kid like you. Go online and check for the difference between ameturish boxing kenya is known for and the professional the likes of mummahed ali and Michael tyson are known to represent. If you stupidly think being a boxer make you a professional. |

Kenya has had 8yr rule for all cars being imported as second hand since 1990s. You dont see old cars in kenya roads...rare sight Now we just banned any car 7 meter long being imported as second hand Poor Ghana you still importing 30yr old cars. The Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs) in April issued a notice freezing importation of used vehicles more than seven metres in length from July 2022. Trucks with load capacities of 3.5 tonnes and above were also banned. Imports of tractor heads and prime movers not older than three years were allowed access until June 2023 after which only new units were to be allowed into Kenya. Just40: |

rvp20182:Ivory coast is french best kept secret in the whole of Africa and as such they cannot allow it to deteriorate to the level of DRC. Never! .They are just polar opposite. Besides the president Alhassan ouattara is a great reformer that has been transforming the country ever since he took over from Laurent Gbagbo who ran the country to the ground. I leave you with this link to read further about the country. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Ivory_Coast Off my head I know the country has also placed a ban on importation of any used car above 5years and i am certain it cut across every form of vehicle. Your video is a bit old, forget when you it was uploaded, the rickety trucks are probably the ones in the country before the ban was placed besides, it is no big deal if they were been used to transport cocoa from the thick tropical vegetation to the city centres. |
