Moh247:You are very right... some of us here in the States settled for blue collar jobs for years before we could be able to fully switch into IT... tho it's not like IT positions are competitive here... but the reason is that a new arrival may hav to consider other means of survival for the time being.... no IT company will hire you without a proper Work visa... so you gaz to work on your residency first before even thinking of applying for jobs... Only the people that arrived on work permit resume work immediately... I was a students and it took a while before I got a proper placement because I require a sponsorship and its not that simple to issue out.... So I guess if this people work on dia adjustments of status first... den option for IT jobs will be surplus... I remember I used to apply for jobs before Ieft Nigeria... i used to get almost every mail wanting me to resume or come for physical interview ... but when they discover I need a sponsorship... everything just become slow..... So that's just the reasons |

Side note - It is in Nigeria that tradesman and craftsmen struggle. In obodo oyibo they make bank. So stop looking at this with Nigerian eyes or perspective. Different place, duff norms Eg in obodo oyibo you pay through your nose for live in maid. It is purely for the rich. And if you make mistake carry someone abroad as househelp you will get busted for slavery, human trafficking and chop 5 years prison |
