You have only 50 TVET colleges with total enrollment of 800K - with annual university enrollment of 170K- total university of enrollment of 800K - if we remove distance learning from UNISA - and international students - it starts to look grim.

You have about 11-12m kids aged btw 1-17 - then we come to colleges & universities we drop to 1.5-2m - where are the rest of 4-5 million going - assuming 18-22 are college going?

Education is not universities - that is just 10% - the 90% is where the action is - and that is difference btw middle class trap & transitioning to developed country.

And stop comparing yourself to Africa - you will always WIN. Even kenya we dont compare ourselves to countries south of Sahara and north of Limpopo river because we will always win. We try to compare ourselves to South Africa - because that is North star - to become middle class country.
