- Nope. Coal is very very cheap and very very dirty. It's not even close. Solar & Wind you're looking at 5-10 usd cent per kwh - while coal is less than a cent. Prepare to pay for expensive power. - Primary and Secondary attainment kenya is clocking 100% - first in Africa " Following the recent introduction of a 100% transition policy, making 12 years of education available to all, primary to secondary transition rates increased from 83% in 2018 to 95% in the first quarter of 2020, according to the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA). " - I am interested in post-secondary - I checked total enrollment for TIVET is 800K - that is very bad. Kenya is about 400-500K now - and we are targetting at least 4 million kids in TIVET by 2030. - Remember you have only 10 million people formally employed - about 40M are out there in informal sector - at least 1/3 of of them jobless and idle - about 10M who are under 15yrs - In conclusion you're stuck in middle class trap and you dont even know. - You think ANC is the problem while the problem is elsewhere. 50 Tivet colleges with 800K total enrollment!!jl115: |

Kenya TVET sector target of 5M in 5yrs https://www.knqa.go.ke/index.php/national-tvet-trainee-recruitment-campaign-kenya-has-300000-students-in-the-tvet-sector-with-a-target-of-5m-students-in-the-next-5-years/ Jul 22, 2022 — National TVET Trainee Recruitment Campaign; Kenya has 300,000 students in the TVET sector with a target of 5m students in the next 5 years. We are building more than 300 TIVETS colleges - which can admit at least 1500 per annum per college - that should mean annual enrollment of upto a million kids. Only 150k-200K are enough to go universities - because the formal economy can only generate so much jobs. Kenya has effected a further cut in funding to public universities for the financial year beginning July 2022 as enrolment numbers continue to dip. The National Treasury, in a budget statement for the coming fiscal period, said it had allocated US$793 million from the US$1.003 billion allocated for the current financial year, a 20% cut. The universities had requested US$1.8 billion from the government in their budget plans. The funding gap for public universities has more than doubled in the past two years, signalling even tougher days ahead for the cash-strapped institutions. In what could be indicative of a trend where more and more learners are showing a preference for technical colleges rather than universities, the data by the Kenya Bureau of Statistics showed that enrolment to the institutions increased by 22% during the period. The number of students joining technical and vocational education and training (TVET) colleges hit 265,095 from 217,440, the biggest jump ever in the past five years. -> So already we are about to it 300K per year - that will soon take enrollment to a million - then we continue until everyone out of school get some technical education - to help improve their hustling informal SMEs. |

Kenya missed two olympics to protest inclusion of apartheid South Africa - 1976 and 1980 Summer Games - so we should be ahead. 1976 Host City: Montreal, Canada Boycotting Countries: More than 20 mostly African countries and Taiwan The Details: When New Zealand’s national rugby team defied an international sports embargo against South Africa and toured the apartheid nation earlier in the year, 28 African nations—comprising most of the continent—declared a boycott of the Olympics, which was allowing New Zealand to participate. Led by Tanzania, the boycott involved more than 400 athletes. In a separate action, Taiwan withdrew from the Games when Canada refused to let its team compete as the Republic of China. Of Note: The boycott led to hotel and ticket refunds totaling $1 million Canadian dollars. It especially affected several track and field events, where nations such as Kenya and Tanzania were frequent medal winners. jl115: |

rvp2018:- So coal is cheap...and we have a lot of it.......win win all round for us - Not first.....South Africa hit 103% secondary enrolment in 2019: https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SE.SEC.ENRR?locations=ZA - The number of students that enrolled just at 26 public universities in 2022 is over 1 million.......how many you think enrolled at the other 300 private tertiary intuitions ? - nobody said unemployment wasn't a problem. - common sense was never your strong suite....over one million students just at our 26 public universities.... |

None. Apartheid South Africa missed a lot because it denied black players the right to play sports. South Africa before apartheid and after apartheid participate in olympics as any civilized nation. And South africa been participating since 1949 - while Kenya started in 1963 - boycotted twice due to RSA issues - so generally look for another excuse. South Africa apartheid started becoming a global issue from 1960s jl115: |

- You need to plan for new future without coal. - Great - kenya and South Africa doing excellent in that basic education front. Dont shout about it - secondary and primary - are BASIC education. - Now when it come to university and TIVET - please quote statistics. - I gave you a link with total university and TIVET - split into private, public, whatever. - Use it to argue intelligently - for once. - You can enrol a million kids to universities but where are the JOBS? - With only 10Million formal jobs - I can only imagine the replacement rate of maybe 300k? - The focus therefore should be on TIVET - so these people can get skills to create their own jobs - as carpenters, plumbers, mechanics - while also laying foundation for real industrialization - not just idle around drinking cheap beer and complaining about africa immigrants taking their jobs. jl115: |

Lame excuses - for a country that started olympics in 1904! - you only missed from 1960 to 1990 - those are about 8 olympics - 2 of which kenya also boycotted. Conclusion - you have more than twice kenya participation in olympics. South Africa first participated at the Olympic Games in 1904, and sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games until 1960. After the passage of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 1761 in 1962 in response to South Africa's policy of apartheid, the nation was barred from the Games. jl115: |

Ghana - look like Ghana debt sustainability is complete - and unlike the mad cow theory that they had liquidity problem - they actually have structural debt problem. Now we wait for the market reaction This could essentially lock Ghana out of both domestic and foreign debt market. UPDATE: Ghana's domestic debt restructuring 1. Bonds existing as of Dec 1st have been swapped for 4 new bonds maturing in 2027, 2029, 2032 & 2037. 2. Coupons set at 0.0% in 2023, 5.0% in 2024 & 10.0% from 2025 to maturity 3. T-bills have been spared restructuring
