Who is to say that if Africa had Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Mali, and Algeria in Qatar, to make our representation 10 countries, that one of them would not reach semifinal or final?

In fact, personally, I do not believe that those 10 African countries can go to the world cup and not one will reach semi-final at least.

FIFA isn’t hosting the World Cup for sporting integrity reasons therefore it doesn’t have to make it fair; it is a money-making venture.

It’s worked out that the most money will be made by ensuring the best teams (which historically come from Europe and South America) are given a bigger chance to qualify.

As it happens, the South American slots for the World Cup are disproportionately high, even taking all of this into account. Were all teams equal (which they’re obviously not), a team in Europe has a 24% chance of reaching a World Cup. In South America, it’s 45%.

Europe: 55 teams, 13 slots (24% chance)

Africa: 54 teams, 5 slots (9% chance)

Asia: 46 teams, 4.5 slots (10% chance)

North and Central America: 35 teams, 3.5 slots (10% chance)

If there is no 'integrity', then FIFA has no right to draw up world football rankings that are based on a baseless and faulty, corrupt foundation that's based on nothing but money.



If you base it on the footballing ability of the nations in each continent, Asia is fairly represented with 4 countries, since only two countries there have anything resembling a decent team - Japan and South Korea.

Same as Oceania, and co.

Europe has 44 real countries, not '55', which is the figure you get when you start adding places like Monaco and the Vatican, with its 1,000 population. So their percentage chance of winning is way more than 24%.

It is AFRICA that is under-represented, given the quality of its top tier sides.

You have countries in Africa like Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Egypt, who have held their own against top teams in the world, and beaten them severally, in fact, but are sitting at home now because only 5 countries are allowed from Africa.

HOW IS THAT FAIR?

And then when a couple of African teams FROM THE PUNY NUMBER OF 5 get knocked out from the world cup, it's ''oh Africa is this'', ''oh Africa is that''.

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO..... Give us FAIR REPRESENTATION, then if we fail, you can start with your anti-African criticism.

I get you and I don't get you.

I get you in that Africa has limited number of slots compared to other continents in the world cup. But that will change, if Fifa's plan doesnt, in 2026 when they expand to 40 teams with Africa having 2 additional slots.

I don't get you in that even if Africa had more slots in the world cup prior to this world cup, their performance wouldn't have been anything to write home about. The best any African nation has accomplished is 1/4 finalist and even at that she hasn't been consistent. (Forget number of slots here and the ratio/probability of chance)

In my humble opinion, had it been that Africa was a steady and consistent performer in the world cup, I am sure that strong cases for more slots would have been made on her behalf before now.

Talk about consistent performance...what do we have? Lets not even go far, Nigeria with all her stars can't beat ordinary Ghana to qualify. Ghana that qualified what did they do? Same thing Senegal with all the promise following their African Championship. North Africa that was building some consistency at a time with the likes of Eygpt and Algeria...wetin happen?

By the way...did you read the comment from Portugal after they played Nigeria in one of their warm up matches?

Can you tell me what Africa are good with? No modern innovation and invention coming from Africa. World has left us behind. Africans as immigrants are in European nations. Africans are representing top European teams in the world cup. Do you see any European representing African teams in WC?.
FIFA and most international organisations were formed mostly by Europe and America. What are the contributions africa to global development in general? Nothing special. Why? Bad governance. We should stop complaining..South America are force to reckon with because of contributions of some of the players to european football. Pele. Maradona. Now messi, neymar etc. Even pepe of portugal is Brazilian. He decided to play for portugal in his earlier years.
My point is if you are useful to the world and society, you would be recognized.
